Hello,

I have the opportunity to fly Melb to Bangkok with Thai on TG466 (aircraft is a 773) and Bangkok to Vienna with Austrian on OS 26 ( Aircraft is a 772). I am a first time flyer with both and would appreciate any comments about the seat comfort for sleeping.

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks Limewood, the comments on the 777 don't fill me with a lot of comfort, no pun intended.

Are you going to be a paying punter, using miles or enjoying a freebie?

If the former, LX may be a better option because it would offer a flat bed from BKK to ZRH...

Hi

I've done a few trips in business class on Thai, which are detailed in the following reports. Note that i've done business class on the A340-600 and the 747-400 but the seats are the same on the 777 I believe.

Most recent:

Last year:

Have never flown Austrian, but I believe that they are pretty good in terms of food etc. Seats are on par with Thai. Cabins I think are little aged, but again very similar to Thai.

Another resource you can look into is Flyertalk - there may be more reports on Austrian on there:

Y is a generic term for economy. It is also an economy fare class of qantas and, I assume a lot of airlines.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I did Thai's business product 4 times last year between Australia and Europe. Theres a slight difference in seats between the 777-200ER and the 777-200 and as recently as last month they where changing the equipment on the MEL-BKK route. Still, in both A/C for J its an angled "lie flat" seat. Truth is that they don't go fully flat as they fold in different places and they angle to the floor so depending on your body shape you may find you slide off them. Not too bad, but not the most modern either. I usually managed to sleep OK. AVOD is good though and TG's service is fantastic IMHO.

Haven't flown on OS's 777 in a few years but last time I did I recall it also being an angled lie flat product, similar to TG's. I seem to recall there wasn't as much choice in the AVOD, but I could be mistaken, as I say it was a few years ago.

Either way, not a bad way to get to VIE.

Cheeers!
