Not really - internet checkin + no luggage, there's virtually no chance of being asked to show ID. If I were the OP I'd consider this a viable option :)

I agree. Although it is "most probably" against QF rules, I would honestly say there is a 99% chance of NOT getting checked for ID. You could do it tomorrow if you really needed to. You just have to find someone to sit on a plane for a day or 2. QF-SYD-BNE/MEL vv x2 when a special is on would be the way to go.

FYI
Here is a JQ Flight l took recently. Notice, there is "NO ~" in the field because it was a Jetsaver fare.

Given the current $79 one way fares between Syd-Mel it could be worth the risk. As long as you had a friend or family member willing to undertake. Only real risk is on cancelled flight even then very small chance or id check.

Well... You could risk it! All Aussie airlines are hopeless at checking ID.... Bit of a risk though :)
The only time I provide ID is when I need to get a boarding pass. With Qantas I just handover the FF card.

So in theory if one checks in online and does not have bags to check you are not likely to have any interaction with the staff until they scan the boarding pass to board the flight.

But if something does go wrong then the consequences could be extremely undesirable.
