Trivial, I know, compared with what some people are facing - and this should perhaps be in the Moggies thread.

I've been thinking about adopting an older cat for some while. Now I've located one in foster care that may suit me very well, my need being all the greater because of the current enforced solitariness. The difficulty is that I don't drive and the cat is located in Mount Waverley (VIC) whereas I'm in Brunswick. It might just be possible for me to visit - and if this one seems like good match - complete the adoption paperwork at the same time and bring her home with me.

I'm waiting to hear from the organization whether they could agree to this or if all adoptions are "on hold" for the duration. I'm finding it hard to be patient amid the uncertainty.

Reading many of these posts, I really can be thankful. I am retired and my own house outright. We retirees might complain about the measly investment rate and share prices, but at least there is money to live on. Plus I work 8-10 hours a week in the medical sector, so my job will continue. That’s my travel money. My son will probably lose his job for the duration, but he also owns his house. And he cooks! Instead of a weekly restaurant meal, he will have me around to dinner. I have been broke and living week to week in my 20s, so really appreciate where I am now.

My heart goes out to those who are scared and worried how they’re going to get by.

I would love an older rescue cat but hubby still says no but most of our friends are not shy in telling him hes wrong so hes a work in progress.

Good luck.

Give me a shout if, by Easter, you still haven't been able to get your cat. I would consider bringing the cat from their door to yours, once my new car is delivered in the next week or two. Or possibly giving you a ride, assuming we're both symptom free.

Not ok tonight. For various reasons don't have Internet at home. Just hotspot to my phone. Have more than enough data each month but working from home tomorrow onwards will change that.
Asked next door neighbor who, over time insisted that I thought of them as family if I could use their data if I was running out. She said no even though they have unlimited data. We see each other at least weekly, spend Xmas together etc that is how close we were. The people you thought you could count on...

I'm sorry you were let down by someone you call a friend.

I said the other day after a work grocery item exchange that "this situation wont last forever but how we treat each other with kindness will".

Sending you hugs, wish I could do more.

Look I will just try and get the internet on at home next week. Telstra wait times are 6 hours and my work involves helping those with mental illness so work outcomes trump monetary outlays. I just feel so let down it wouldn't have cost them a cent. Anyway life goes on and thanks for the hugs guys.

Sorry to hear about what happened with asking your neighbour for data.
You are working in an area that will be more necessary than ever during and after COVID-19.
Maybe they might reflect on their response and change their mind.... hope so.

@I love to travel sorry to hear that. As one of the very few AFF members I’ve met in person, I hope you’ll get through this.

I’ve been reading AFF more (and posting slightly more) since this pandemic, ironically now I’m grounded. Being able to read others’ experience and sometimes add mine has been therapeutic.
