Over 200,000 on a Friday is fantastic. We may well have a 1 million work week as soon as next week.

Over 40% (40.47%) have had their first dose.

Over 65% (65.19%) of 50+ have had their first dose.

Over 50% of every age group (50-54) and up have had their first dose.

A few more age groups are on the verge of reaching 80% first dose (80-84 and 90-94) and should get there in the next few days. 85-89 isn’t too far behind.

Even though presumably about half the 16-19 year range is ineligible to get vaccinated that age range has reached 5% with a first dose.

40-44 should reach 40% first dose soon.

If lots more under 40s go out and get AZ that will be a big help for the speed of the rollout. The first dose percentages for under 40s are very low. We need those figures to climb very fast if we are to be any chance of hitting the vaccine targets.

I suspect many of them will wait for Pfizer, but it shouldn’t be long and it will open to them. Tas already has and ACT announced today that they will be soon.

the weekly running total has now hit 1,173,849. I think 1.5+ is totally feasible once supply increases.

It will be long for most as it is only in Oct when supply of Pfizer doubles and it will then most likely take most of Oct-Dec to get everyone who is waiting for Pfizer done.

Also when it is open to the under 40's are they going to make it open for all or just 16-60? Presumably the 60's hold outs will be some unknown time later.

The haphazard vaccine rollout continues, and will unfortunately be dragged out much loner than it should have taken.

Silly people, Did you see the Lancet article that says the risk of clots with Pfizer is the same if not worse than AZ?

October is when it doubles, but isn’t it supposed to be increasing each month? I would think they would open to 30 to 39 first, then 16 to 29, then 12 to 15. Have no sympathy for over 60s - they can get AZ or wait until the end. Anyone over 60 who has a genuine contra indication for AZ can get Pfizer now.

Totally agree, however when are people sensible and the media needs to take a lot of blame with their hysterical coverage in the past.

Get him to make an appointment with his GP/ Respiratory Clinic to discuss AZ.
There is no shortage of AZ.

He wants Pfizer because he has read and believed all the hype..he is a communication pro and of all people should know better
We can get him a spot with our practice where a gp interviews EVERYONE Before a nurse does the deed.
It's his call but if a high performing intellectual pro can be so influenced by the hype..what hope has the average joe ?

As a fit healthy 38yr old has just died of Covid in Sydney I’d advise that he rethinks that call ASAP.

I pick up our daughter from school 3 days per week and there is a Pfizer vaccine hub on the way home. I was considering dropping in to see if she good get jabbed on the basis of daily no shows. Yes Pfizer from 12 and up

One would think walk-ins that are 18+ would probably be prioritised over kids unless kids have serious co-morbidities that mean that vaccination is urgent, but you could definitely try.

Pfizer doses are highly unlikely to be expiring given the demand so there would likely be limited leftover doses from a vial that could be injected, if any.

TGA has approved, but I understood that they had to wait for ATAGI to finalise the recommendation and that initially it would be for those that had underlying conditions. Although of course once ATAGI has made their recommendation no stopping a spare dose being used.

I think TGA is more the regulator, making sure the medicines do what they are supposed to, quality control, keeping track of side effects etc.

ATAGI then is an advisory group on how to implement the Covid vaccines. I guess it was such an important thing they wanted to make sure they had top level Scientific/medical people advising, rather than public service/politicians. However it does feel like they have caused problems……

They actually don’t need ATAGI technically. The Feds used them to cover their cough in case things went pear shaped. Unfortunately it went pear shaped BECAUSE of ATAGI’s flawed approach.
