In the Vic Presser today Foley the Vic Health Minister stated that all First Ministers (ie all jurisdictions) have now been advised that the Oct Pfizer deliveries into Australia (ie the ones direct from Pfizer and not those through any side deals) are likely to be less than had been planned/announced. Exact details are yet to be confirmed.

Funny how we get announcements of extra vaccines but little to no information when it comes to delays.

No exact detail. Presumably Pfizer are delivering more slowly than the Commonwealth hoped. How much less was not indicated, nor was the timeline (ie you can get doses within a month, but later in the month, which still will slow down vaccinations).

Foley has been saying for a while that the normal timeline to have the number of exact doses for the next month (October in this case) was late. So presumably the Commonwealth has known for a little bit at least that there may be an issue. This meant not adding all the extra bookings, as in Vic they do not add bookings till they get confirmed delivery dates.

Caveat: Again no detail was given. Hopefully the issue gets resolved with a positive result. It just meant right here and now that the doses cannot be added in at the volume they would like.


At least Moderna is starting to arrive in the country this weekend. Exactly when this translates into getting into arms is not known, but is meant to start occurring this week. Foley did make the comment that with Moderna at Pharmacists that it may take a while to scale up as you would not expect to start at 100% capacity.

First 300k of Moderna will hopefully be at Pharmacies by this coming Friday and the other 750k should be Monday 27th. Obviously depends on batch testing turn around times

Queensland vaccination hubs struggling to meet demand​

There has been overwhelming demand at the Queensland government's 38 community vaccination hubs today.
The government has been spruiking a super vaccination weekend, opening hubs to walk-ins and offering the Pfizer vaccine to anyone aged 12 or above.
Speaking at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre hub at Boondall this morning, Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said although some hubs are "hitting capacity" there were others around the state that still have spots open.

"Throughout the day, we will be letting people in the lines no of neither we need to turn them away for today and whether they should either go to other sites," she said.
"I'm hearing Mount Warren could take extra people and I have the Kippa Ring site of the Redcliffe Peninsula…So look at some of those smaller hubs, not just our big ones at Logan, in the Brisbane Convention Exhibition centre and here at Brisbane Entertainment Centre."

She encouraged Queenslanders who do not get the opportunity to get jabbed today to try again tomorrow on the last day of the "Super Vaccination Weekend."

"Of course, we're open again tomorrow so if you don't make it through the line today, then there is always the opportunity to turn up tomorrow," the health minister said.
"Of course you can again get online, register and book as well that way you'll get in and out far quicker."

Considering the last dose for Australia to reach 100% vaccinated was due in October - and we won't be anywhere near that, there's no reason to panic.

We've gone past 65% (65.27%) of 50+ with a first dose.

11.27% (over 1 in 9) of 12-15 year olds have had their first dose. In NSW over 1 in 6 and in VIC over 1 in 8 of this age group has had their first dose.

20-24 has reached 50.5% first dose. So every age group 20-24 and up has gone past 50% first dose.

50-54 has reached 80.1% first dose. So every age group 50-54 and up except 55-59 (79.5%) has gone past 80% first dose. 55-59 is probably a few days of numbers or so away from 80%.

So whilst still trying to get the 50+ vaccination rates up if we're to get to 80% we need to increase the vaccination rates for the under 50s.

TAS has 70.66% of 16+ with a first dose

SA has 80.35% of 50+ with a first dose

VIC has 67.18% (over 2/3) of 50+ fully vaccinated

The ACT should reach 80% first dose for 16+ when today's numbers are released tomorrow, though as their 70+ numbers have reached 103.63% first dose there could be some NSW residents or population changes affecting the numbers.

13.04% of 12-15 year olds have had their first dose. That's over 1 in 8. In NSW that figure is 19.81%, which is nearly 1 in 5.

55-59 are now at 79.8% first dose the last age group 50-54 and up still short of 80% first dose. Hopefully it will cross 80% when today's numbers are released tomorrow. If not, the day after.

30-34 has reached 60.3% first dose. Every age group 30-34 and up has gone past 60% first dose.

20-24 has reached 20.3% first dose.

QLD and WA should pass 60% first dose possibly as soon as today's numbers are released tomorrow or if not the day after.

covidlive is now estimating that VIC is just a week away from 80% first dose, a day after the VIC premier estimates it will be reached. If vaccination rates pick up a bit this week the Premier's estimate could prove correct.
