What are the numbers “for” covid and “with” covid but “for”another reason
I understand from inference there are quite few especially the young people where there was a one liner - mental health issues. Also it was suggested but no hard stats that a few of the infants at Childrens Hospital were there for medical and not covid reasons. Of the 7 deaths today, five were aged 80-100. It doesn't diminish their sad loss.

Now it may have been luck that the Delta wave occurred in the second half of winter and early spring rather than at the start of winter. - the covid curve is to the right of the other curves. And vaccinations also started ramping up around that time as well.

21.2% now so going up over 1% each weekday. It’ll take some time to get the booster levels up, but progress is being made.

Get ready for your pre-winter second booster everyone...
Going slightly off-topic, but I think this where Australia is at a disadvantage.

Northern Hemisphere winters (3 consecutive now) are more closely associated with higher covid numbers. First was stopped/controlled by Australia's international border closures and State-based lockdowns (no vaccine available). Second was also controlled by Australia's international border closures and State-based lockdowns (no vaccine available). Because of Omicron, Australia now recommends booster in summer - open border for Aussies, and for the most part no lockdowns.

Australia also has had two winter outbreaks.

The mrna booster vaccines are fading fast that appears to be true with data from Israel and the UK..... we have team members now well exposed (Again).... Some chose to boost with AZ and the ones who had two primary doses of AZ are certainly feeling more comfortable than those 100% done with either mrna options. We can't keep boosting everyone every 3 months though.... What happens next....?

Paul Kelly yesterday talked about another potential Covid + Flu wave come winter. We wont have the benefit of hindsight of watching the northern hemisphere go first with our booster program running at the same time as theirs and realistically when winter comes around the booster efficacy will be fading.

If there is another wave come winter the economic recovery wont be happening in 2022.

As previously posted both the WHO and SAGE in the UK are only advising a second booster for the immuno compromised and those with multiple co-morbidities. Only Israel is going ahead with a second booster for all though they admit there is no evidence it will reduce transmission. Already there are several examples of those having a fr infection after their 4th jab.
