Please correct your post!!!!Is there anyone in the country who doesn’t think Australia would be better off of Clive Palmer fell down a deep hole?
Don't hold your breath. So Virgin is joining the incentives:
Virgin Australia has followed Qantas in announcing its own incentive program for Australians to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
However, the Virgin announcement said the competition would not open until all Australian adults are eligible for vaccination. At present, only Australians aged 40 and over are eligible for the vaccine, with the exception of those in front line roles or with conditions that make them vulnerable to the disease.

No chaos on my & others I've spoken to at the venue.Chaos, poor messaging, changing advice, an ineffective booking system, ending walk ins , a lack of clear and effective communication- the result = wastage

Nurse at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre says they had to dispose of 30 doses in a day, while clinics reveal an excess of AstraZeneca jabswww.theguardian.com
I know in the USA at the start of the rollout when it was very much age-based, the mass vaccination centers had a system for people without appointments/outside the age range to physically line up and wait for any unused doses which would otherwise go to waste. My understanding is that while these lines involved long waits, they were successful - better a shot in any arm then in the trash. There are ways of making this more efficient - having say an 8-12 and then a 12-4 waiting line - give out the vaccines for the first bucket no shows at 12:30 and then for the 2nd bucket no shows at 4:30. I am fairly certain there are people who deal with exactly this type of logistical arrangement (see Disney with lines and systems). Even local area (aka non-mass vaccination sites) could do something similar via a text message WL system. The lack of practical creativity continues to astound me. They had 13 plus months to figure this all out - it didn't even require an imagination - all that was needed is to look to what was going on overseas and see that this was "a thing"Chaos, poor messaging, changing advice, an ineffective booking system, ending walk ins , a lack of clear and effective communication- the result = wastage

Agree - there are so many people who would love to have access to the AZ vaccine.I like that rhetoric. If people aren't going to hospital in droves, what's the point in economic Hara Kiri?
Just so sad what has happened to the Astra Zeneca vaccine in this country. We are so privileged.

Really? I can't say I am surprised, is this just industry rumour or are there stories out there about it.Yup and it’s started leaking out that ATAGI was not in consensus at all about the ‘enhanced’ guidelines around AZ in AU.
Looks like there are some cracks appearing.... Brett Sutton doesn’t appear to agree with our revered ATAGI’s ‘enhanced’ vax advice.... very interesting....
A lot of our younger workers (who got vaccinated because of our industry) friends are very jealous and would happily take AZ if they could..... maybe there is a market.

Sutton says Victoria would consider opening AstraZeneca jab for people under 60
Victoria's CHO Professor Brett Sutton says Victoria would consider opening up AstraZeneca shots to people under the age of 60, despite the recent ATAGI advice.
Many young people have told the ABC they would be willing to take the very small risk of the rare blood clotting disorder associated with a tiny number of people who have received the jab.
“We want to get maximal capacity through all our vaccination settings, including primary care, as well as our state vaccination sites,” Professor Sutton said.

Honestly, if the Feds decided to publically correct ATAGI that would mess up what is already a rather messy vaccination process. I'm not sure it is ever a good thing to admonish any Advisory body in the public sphere.Nothing that ATAGI says binds anyone at all as a matter of law. ATAGI is, according to its terms of reference and statement of strategic intent, merely a technical advisory body to the Minister of Health. If a state wishes to continue to administer AZ to those willing to take it, the state may continue to do so.
ATAGI has overstepped its terms of reference, and the Federal government took no corrective action (eg, by making a statement clarifying ATAGI's role and admonishing it for overstepping its role). That is concerning in itself. The inference I draw from that is that the Federal government is content to refrain from critical analysis of the technical advice it is receiving from ATAGI and accept what it says at face value, notwithstanding that would deny those who wish to be vaccinated sooner rather than later from being vaccinated and protected against Covid-19. That is ethically dubious, to say the least.
