The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

VIC has gone past 50% of 16+ with a 3rd dose. NSW, WA, TAS and SA should reach 50% within the next few days or so. WA at 49.9% should reach it when today's numbers are released tomorrow.

The country has reached 50% 16+ with a booster. After NSW reaches this milestone with today's numbers released tomorrow only QLD and the NT will be yet to reach it.

Tasmania's numbers today.

Virtually everyone who wants one has had the first shot.
5-11 have now passed 60% for first shots.
Boosters over 60% of over16s eligible.

Yesterday had the lowest number of vaccinations (41,619) since early January when there were no vaccinations.

Though Sunday typically does have the lowest number of vaccinations for the week.

There were more vaccinations in NSW than VIC yesterday, the first time in a while.

Novavax has been approved as a booster where a mRNA vaccine is not suitable. I assume it's only a matter of time before it's approved for use whether or not a mRNA vaccine is suitable.

Considering how low the unvaccinated percentage is now, expanding access of Novavax to more people is presumably very important for it to be worthwhile to significantly expand the number of places where you can get Novavax.

Well I have already had 1 mRNA shot and IMHO a second shot would not be suitable as mix and match works better.
I've been given 3 Pfizer, the third of which disappointed me at the time as I would have liked an AZ.

Has anyone had a fourth vax?

In your case I would definitely ask for a Novavax booster for dose 4. it is very likely to be essential for anyone immunocompromised. the evidence for a Mix and Match strategy being better is getting stronger. you could definitely say a 4th mRNA shot would be unsuitable.

I think severely immunocompromised can already have a fourth. Eligibility for a fourth dose is likely to be expanded as we get closer to winter.

I have had two AZ in Australia. I have also had a Pfizer booster overseas that I haven’t had added to the AIR. I plan to have a fourth dose closer to winter especially if I decide to book to go overseas.

Whilst for healthy people a fourth shot might not make a lot of difference at this point it still makes some difference.

The ABC is reporting many doses have been thrown out: Thousands of COVID vaccines binned as GPs call for better booster uptake

VIC has gone past 60% boosted but booster rates are definitely slowing.

It does raise the question as to whether if we don’t do mandates, perhaps some incentives should be offered to get boosted.
Maybe you'd like to see QF DSC incentive for those boosted in AUS....... Although please tell us how you were boosted O/s & you may have your 4th booster pre-winter if suits.

I was thinking more of government incentives. They've used the stick of mandates, when they should rather be using more positive ways to encourage people to get it.

Multiple western countries will provide vaccinations to anyone. Vaccinating foreigners helps to protect the citizens as well. I will probably get a 2nd booster (4th dose) before winter.

Many arm chair experts re politics.

4th 5th or 10th dose makes no difference, covid kills very very few, foreigners or locals. The covid game is over we all gotta get back on the horse, give it a kick & get going again. Maybe 2 kicks.

All imo of course.

I discovered a new word today. Most of us here have a little bit of it in us.
