The "Do you need a hand?" thread

And all those people at home that are apparently "not" spending money in our local economy.....

My husband just spent $200 on his fav keeto balls from a Tassie maker

The same place we hope to get back to in August so he can take a large piece of empty luggage and say "Fill her up". Hes spending like a man who hasnt looked at his Super balance recently

If this is the wrong thread I apologise but I thought it fitted here

I would encourage everyone to spend some more and help family and friends.

As much as the Govt has boosted jobseeker payment, it doesn’t flow until 27th April and 1.6 million international students and visa holders (700,000 Kiwis) don’t qualify

From the Guardian
Jacinda Ardern says she has asked the Australian government to allow New Zealanders to access welfare benefits during the coronavirus crisis.

She told a press conference today:

I have raised this issue with Prime Minister Morrison. I have specifically sought, ‘Could we have a short-term exemption?’ Just for these exceptional circumstances for New Zealanders to be supported. Not least because it will encourage compliance at a time when we need everyone to be self isolating if they have to for instance.”

Ardern said both she and the deputy prime minister, Winston Peters, had asked for the exemption with their counterparts.

Most New Zealanders are banned from accessing welfare benefits and other social programs such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme under immigration laws brought in by the Howard government.

And many people (mainly women) as secondary earners will not be eligible for jobseeker payments if their partner earns over about $48,000.
