I'm always disappointed with reef photos and video I take with my Go Pro Hero 4 black taken at 4k. Just never seems to capture the colours you see with the naked eye. Do you have any filters drron? It's been suggested to me a red filter helps, but I haven't tried that yet.

It’s funny you should say that. I took some photos and videos of fish being fed in Vanuatu and by sight it didn’t look all that special. When I looked at the video it was stunning. This was a basic Sony cybershot that is waterproof. Maybe the go pro doesn’t shoot the quality as that isn’t it’s main game?

I just went looking for a photography thread on AFF but haven't found it yet (found a solar thread that I didn't know about instead). Do we have one to discuss photography as I need all the help I can get?

My waterproof Sony was good but needed the rubber replaced to keep it waterproof.A new Lumix was cheaper.Basically those were the colors I saw.It wasn't very impressive.

The Sea of Cortez is very young in Geological terms being roughly 5.3 million years old.It is the youngest of seas and one of the most diverse. The San Andreas fault runs down the middle and this is the origin of the sea.It is a rift valley that the sea has filled. Many of the islands show evidence of their volcanic origin in the rocks.Basically a geologist's heaven.Water depth in places over 2000 metres.

And where there are lots of birds there is lots of guano. In the early years of last century this brought many of the locals to this island to harvest it.Here is how they did it.

These walls were built across places of water run off.the guano was washed down the hill and collected behind the wall. The people came back and collected it.A very labour intensive method so ceased when fertilisers became cheaper.
More guano traps.
