The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Crew was great. Really friendly and seemed to have a good rapport. I assumed they knew each other well but later discovered that was not the case. While the cabin remained dark after take-off, there was no pressure to eat quickly and/or sleep. Crew were happy to delay commencement of my meal for about 45 minutes.

Also again no problem being served anything I asked for on waking up even though we were well within the 90 minutes before landing. No pics but had caviar and the tandoori chicken salad for breakfast! It was good.

Nothing to do with Emirates but my very last experience was sadly disappointing. Having successfully avoided any remote stands and bus transfers in Dubai, in all places we park at a remote stand in MEL. While landed bang on time there were no available gates (saw two Qantas 737s at gates 10 and 11 (I think) which was pretty frustrating). So we parked opposite.

I know the EK A380 isn't used again for several hours (and it's probably more complex than it looks), but surely it's better to allow an A380 to disembark and have a 737 use a stand?

Took 20 minutes before the front door opened and stairs were in position. I was the 4th person off the plane. Bus crammed to capacity (I later understood why). 18 minutes on the bus to drive maybe 300 metres (during which time both 737s pushed back and left the apron). I was lucky. 45 minutes later sitting in the F lounge having my corn fritters and they had just finished offloading the last pax, including several in wheelchairs from the one door. Pretty pathetic organisation from MEL airport. The Captain announced that we'd be parking at a stand half an hour before landing so it shouldn't have been a surprise. Oh well.

There is no need to 'bump' a thread just for the sake of it.

Sure, but the flipside is a poster starts a brand new thread for what could be included in an existing, consolidated and comprehensive thread. I couldn't care less so if that is what the mods would really prefer to a harmless 'bump' then whatever.

Both are great but I'll take EK F (and the DXB lounges and CD) over SQ F (and TPR) any day of the week.

Why not have both...I haven't yet flown EK so will refrain from comment until I do.

But it won't be long as we have had our EK 777 flight from DXB-MLE switch to new F. We are flying FCO-DXB before this on EKA380 F.

We have old SQ Suites booked from SIN-LHR on the trip but have flown this from ZRH-SIN in 2017 so am kind of hoping it gets changed to new Suites, though I think I will prefer the older cabin based on others reports.

Are there rumours of changing EK405 from MEL-SIN to the new 777 First Class does anyone know? Im booked in this for November.

IMO EK cabin decor is repulsive - vomit material.
The P1's and their first world problems ;). I on the other hand much prefer F and of no particular order in JL, CX, QR, SQ F (777) and QF (sleeping) over EK or SQ suites, I am just not a big fan of doors and don't know what all the fuss is about.

Interesting reports - I'm enjoying them since our international travels are no more, I'll never get the chance to enjoy a suite. But thanks guys all those pics of food - I should think you'd just about be rolling off the plane!
