The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Not the norm but, as posted upthread, I have had Dom on the ground ex-SIN at least once in the last year or so. I'm not that fussed about champagne and actually prefer the Arabic coffee as the PDB!
SIN is great for enforcing priority boarding and definitely worth getting onboard sooner once you are ready.
Me too! I’m often the only one having it with one of each of the dates…alongside a dom as it’s all about the reds post takeoff

I was offered P2 in Sep 22 MEL-DXB and onwards DXB-SEA. On some EK flight you need to ask what is available be it champagne, wines, cognac or other sprits.
Hopefully its something good

Just reading through this thread as I'm flying SIN to Melbourne in a couple of weeks on an F redemption through QF.

Excited to drink my ticket's taxes worth in the first hour of the flight! But, does anyone have experience with these 'special' wines through November, given SIN-MEL is a fifth-freedom route and not a flagship route, will it miss out and 'all we'll get (lol)' is the 'regular (lol)' Dom?

Just flew SIN-MEL on 9 Nov in F and unfortunately its only 2015 Dom Perignon, I was looking forward to the P2 but had to settle haha

Flew this on the weekend and it was a great experience! Made a first YT video on it (mind the poor production quality compared to some full timers!)

Glad you enjoyed and congrats on your first video! It's very good.

Appreciate that you thought there was too much cheese, but have to say that in terms of quantity/variety of cheese and accompaniments, and presentation, that looks like a J cheese plate and not a F cheese board (in my experience).

Fair point, and I don't disagree, also the only fault by the crew just about the entire flight was I wasn't told what was what... my issue for next time, but not enough B Roll to talk over!

This is the DXB F lounge menu, including specials for Ramadan. I’ll post my dining there later.
Looks like the menu hasn't changed since?

SO, Not exactly sure if this is the correct place for this question,

I am heading back to The Balkans this May.

Currently I have MEL BKK HEL DBV redemption booked in J circa $250 in taxes.

However, this involves two nights in BKK with the 0700 departure from BKK on AY.

I can change this to a 0115 departure on EK to get me to VCE which would work for me, gets me to Europe a day and a half earlier and does not involve leaving the Bangkok airport. Arrival in the evening, few hours in the lounge and on my way. Also, save for one economy trip many years ago from AKL to MEL, I have never been on EK or the 380.
Whilst I would love to visit Bangkok one day, I think this is worthy of a trip in itself rather than a day after a late flight followed by an early AM departure ~30 hours later.

Question is: Is the extra points plus around $1400 in taxes to go on EK F, Bkk DXB VCE (380 and 777) worth the extra cash. (also, it annoys me how much they have hiked their taxes)
I think I have mentioned around here before, the room on the AY J suite suites me fine. I am sure I will enjoy the pampering on the EK flight and It does get me there earlier. Just not sure if I am "F worth" yet 🤣 😕

HA, Not sure the shower really sells it for me on those shorter flights when I will have plenty of lounge time at BKK and DXB.

Anyway, so I rang up Q this morning and was through to Capetown, initially with the intent to just enquire.

Short story. MEL-BKK on JQ29, (J) thence BKK-DXB-VCE (F) after a few hours layover. 201000 points + around $900 taxes. I think there will be a small refund from the cancelled AY segments. It seems booking a departure starting from AUS works out cheaper than starting in Thailand.

So I booked this there and then. I am not convinced that I will get the extra 50000 points worth in F over J. However, for a more seamless travel experience and that amount of taxes is comparable to QR through Velocity and possibly similar to some other carriers redemption charges for a J seat.

I can then book through to Tirana that afternoon if I wish or have a look around Venice for a day.

I suppose the other question now is which is the best seat and does my blue carry on fit in the silly little cupboard that looks to b under my feet?

2A or K.

The little cubby holds a full-sized international rolla-board!

The shower is great… even walking to the gate in BKK can be humid… so nice to refresh after takeoff or before going to sleep.
