New Years Day and lunch at one of the very few restaurants open. Hogs breath. I was on call and usually get no calls after a morning round. but today got 7 calls over lunch. None after we left. Had to sit next to this sign.

Mrsdrron had the appetiser serve of ribs. Was more than enough and they were very nice.

I had the sirloin steak.A bit more than medium rare and dry. plus got cold at the end.

Sunday 2/1 and Mrsdrron's last night here. A lot of restaurants still closed but the Brisbane Street Bistro was open so we booked a.1830 dinner. Walked in to an empty restaurant. no others arrived after us. This is an extreme example of what is happening here now. a lot of people are scared to go out.
A pity as it was an excellent meal. We shared an entree of pork terrine, chicken liver pate, pickles and Sourdough crackers. Excellent.

Mrsdrron had the pork belly with shallots, cucumber and hoi sin sauce in a pancake. This was superb.

Whilst I had a very good King Island sirloin steak cooked perfectly.

The next weekend I set out on a Farewell to the North west drive. Had morning tea of a Scallop pie and Vanilla slice at Olivers Bakery Latrobe.

A drive out past the hospital in Burnie and a drive by a few of the places I had stayed in. A nice part of Tasmania are the ordinary gardens. Agapanthus and Hydrangeas at peak now.

The area does not have as many orchids now as when I first started to visit 14 years ago. Sometimes the tubers are eaten by the wildlife but I suspect it is 2 legged idiots that cause problems such as this.

Now instead of going straight back to Launceston I took the road less travelled vis Port Sorrel.Beaconsfield and Georgetown. Some of the views.
