The Hospital Food thread

And in a public hospital the meal always seems to come with a stale piece of wholemeal bread :( Talk about crushing any remaining joy.

I’m currently in Calvary Adelaide and think the meals are not bad. Good variety too
You mean, better than what the RAH offers? 😂

Yep, waiting on your hospital TR actually.

I’m too busy. By the time I have aqua, physio, OT, naps and meals I’m stuffed

The last time I was in hospital for 11 days I'd lost around 8kgs.

The food my wife was getting at RBWH on 3 visits this year was very ordinary.

I work in a hospital...if you want to lose weight, hospital food would be great start!
When I was at the Mater a few years ago, the cafe kept calling the room to ask if I wanted food. I said no, they wondered why ???

I had the pleasure of getting my Gallbladder removed at St John of God Hospital in Murdoch earlier this year - the room service menu is more extensive than any hotel I've stayed at - and you can essentially order whatever you like. The regular menu is 6 pages, plus another for drinks, then there's different specialty options for Kosher, Halal, Soft/semi-soft/liquid.

After surgery it was 7:30 when I was finally in my room, so I had no idea what I could manage to eat, so I happily ordered a few options before the kitchen was due to close at 8pm:
* Potato and Leek Soup
* Chicken Satay Hokkien Noodle Stir Fry
* Garden Salad with French Dressing
* Fruit Pavlova

Somehow my Salad was "substituted" with a Creme Brulee - I did not complain!

I woke early and ordered a cheeky 6am light breakfast:
* Fruit Salad
* Cheese Plate

Then before checkout at around 10am I got something more substantial, from memory eggs hollandaise with hash brown and sausages.

All the food was delicious, I can't quite believe I was eating so well, and wished I could have stayed longer!

Had 4 nights in last week (National Capital Private in Canberra) First night liquid diet. Next day and night... NIL BY MOUTH!! Arrgghh! 🤣 Then Liquid diet for a day then finally "Light" for the final morning. Makes it hard to comment, there was so little food involved. Get pretty sick of Apple Juice I must say. 🤣🤣

Must have just missed you. Mr LtL had 6 nights in CCU there the week before. Food wasn't bad but still hospital grade!
