Just want to know your experience in the House Lounge as a non EY passenger?

Priority Pass allows you to enter the lounge as pay the additional $20 for the premium drinks (In the past that has included Champagne)

Can anyone provide your experience in either the MEL & SYD lounge?

Melbourne or Sydney @tmdl ?

Both?

I have flight from both airports in the next few months on CI
We used Melbourne House in September last year prior to J CX flight departing at midnight.
Initially we spent some time in Q Lounge before heading upstairs

I found The House, though smaller, to be better with runway views and more comfortable chairs.
Being 10pm, the food offerings were limited, 3 mains from memory and dessert, but very tasty.
We were only there for an hour due to commencement of boarding. The House was due to close as we departed.

Would go there again @tmdl
There is a thread on AFF about other's experiences.

I can only compare the House at SYD with the Marhaba lounge at MEL. I'd go for the Marhaba any day of the week. The House really isn't that wonderful IMHO, with a poor selection of drinks at the tended bar, and a limited food selection. The Marhaba has self-pour alcohol and I would say better food. It's also comfortable and has plenty of seating, with good apron views.

The House Lounge in Melbourne is physically quite nice, in terms of seating and tarmac views. The staffed bar has a decent enough selection of drinks IMHO, albeit not amazing. The buffet food is a bit limited but I didn't pay the extra $20. Not the best lounge out there but I personally didn't mind it. The nice thing when I visited last month was that there was only about 3 other people in there (mid-morning), so was peaceful.

Used PP to visit the SYD House Lounge last month and it was rather disappointing. Furniture seemed dated, limited food offerings and standard drinks included were pretty basic. My last visit was pre-covid as an EY passenger and that was sensational - coughtails, full menu etc. Obviously still much better than the zoo at the departure gate but my friend and I were both very unimpressed with it.

I wonder if the Plaza Premium is any better?

Semi-regular The House in SYD. Agree the furnishings are a bit tired. But the bathrooms are clean and the staff are friendly. The food is nothing to go out of the way for, 3(ish) warm buffet items, fruit, bread, some salad, etc. The coffee is decent, both from the machine and the human.

Have paid the $20 upcharge a handful of times, the menu is limited - only a few choices - and not memorable. If you're paying extra for champagne note they have limited stock. I've been cut off in the mornings (not from drinking, just from champagne) after a few, to 'save some for later in the day'. Generally not worth the extra IMO. The upcharge also gives you showers, but the shower room is an enclosed room within the bathroom so... not great.

Overall a serviceable Priority Pass destination but I wouldn't pay the door price, if that helps contextualise it.

Plaza is newer and the food is (slightly) nicer, but the space is very small so it fills up quickly. The layout also means there aren't any quiet areas, so noisy guests will get on your nerves quickly. I rate The House over the Plaza in SYD.
