The Jetstar Business Class/Business Max price differential is just absurd

Jetstar's Business product needs work, as per my posts elsewhere on this site. It's a budget service - with hefty financial penalties if flights need to change. Far better to stay with other airlines for the premium product - especially if you expect a "business class" service.

However, if you are flying in the next couple of days and want to fly in a comfortable seat, then *Class may suit.

IMHO J* Business / Business Max it is a Premium Economy 38 inch pitch seat, sold at around PE prices, that earns QF Business SCs.

Business class v Business Class Max - price absurd
Couldn't agree more!

Booked four flights at short notice, MEL-SIN over school hols last week. (Not cheap at 2k each, but best Y was 1400 - 1700, so what the hell!)
Anyway, at booking, saw the offer to upgrade to MAX for another $800 each!
$800 for lounge and status? You're kidding! No thanks!

As it turned out, while in Asia, I just happened to check my QF account and lo and behold, points and status credited to my account for the outbound flight!!?

At this point, AFF brain kicks in, so on return trip I wander up to QF lounge in SIN with Jetstar Business boarding pass and am welcomed with open arms! Thank-you very much!

Don't know why the glitch happened but I'm not compaining.

(Trip report to come - and sorry; NO meat pies were served on any leg!)

I know its called Max bundle but they didn't really have to MAX out the cost for it  I was looking at a SGN-xSIN-xMEL-SYD in J and it was like ~$650AUD, with all in international J except SGN-SIN legs. If I wanted the SC/FFP max package (lounge access is a non-issue as I could access them via WP) they wanted another $650 - that's absurd in my opinion. I would consider the MAX bundle at maybe $200.00 for those legs, but anything more, no way José :!:

J* Business Max is about charging you for the J SCs, which are lower cost than any QF SCs. If you want a good earning SC, you pay the J* Business Max price, which I do. I look at it as paying for a QF Y+ seat and earning J SCs. Can't complain about that deal.

Used to do a couple of *class trips a year to asian destinations, when they bought out the new improved and I read the price difference they lost me! Got to be joking calling it business class too, at least *class indicated you were getting something better but its in no way J class travel imho. Next trip, i'll use points and pay and fly into either SIN or BKK in real J class and then travel on with whoever gives the best deal for a short hop to coughet or wherever else i'm flying. And since its probably Vietnam next trip, i'll do it on Singapore Airlines on amex points! Won't be using it at all now, they need to rethink the cost, whilst i'll pay extra to get points and sc for flying in OZ I won't pay that much extra for *class whatever they want to call it.

I booked a one way ticket Sin to Mel on Jet* Business. The Max was only +$200 and that's SGD so pretty good deal. (I had to google Qantas Singapore to enable me to book one way return to Au).

8000 odd points for $200. That's costing you 2.5c a point. Very few rewards will be worth more than 2.5c, so the SCs had better be worth it!!!
enjoy the beef stew!!!

SIN-MEL in Business MAX garners 120SC, which is not too shabby.

But surely there are other ways that are far better value to get 120-odd SC than the current Max bundle prices. They were great when the J fare was all-inclusive, but the current difference makes it far less so.

I had an absurd jetstar price to add. I was just randomly looking at MEL-SIN return in the current sale period, around Anzac day. Anyway, business max was about $50 less than economy max.

But if you want to fly SIN-MEL, it does limit your options.

That may be, but my aim was to fly from Sin to Mel not to find some way to garner 120 SC. It was actually Au$150 so definitely worth it for my purposes. Lounge access was also important with 3hrs to kill at Changi. Meant I could eat & drink beforehand & thus passed on the awful Jetstar food.
