The joke that is our post office

I ordered printer toner from a Melbourne company. Not needed urgently so left a week before checking re non-delivery. Sender replied
I can see the item is at  Newsagent, 2706:POPShop@healthSAVE Lygon DISCOUNT Ch Awaiting for your collection.
Needless to say I had been home all day and no card had been left. It wasn't at a post office but at one of the several phamacies in the area - took me a while to work out which one. And then wait while several people had their prescriptions dispensed before being waved over to an unattended counter. Next time I'll have to say "Couriers don't please".

My parcel was processed at Sydney facility on Tues at 2.18pm (came in), Wed 3.15am (went out) and Wed 7.38pm (came in again).

Wouldnt mind if I could get points or SCs for its journey

So, my parcel at 7.54am today was approx 4klms from me in Sydney.

Its currently in Melbourne

Considering its 4pm on a Friday afternoon, I think Australia Post is telling porkies as the website claims, "It's coming today"

We use Star Track airbags and they work well.

I rang them to get some pricing. They said they wouldn't talk to me unless I would do $2k a month. I said ok sure give me some budget pricing and then I can tell you what I can do or not.. they wouldn't.

Sticking to TNT for all national and international. 99% issue free

The best thing about Star Track is the credit card fees. Often our fast deliveries run up to about $100k a month. We use rail for general freight and we use nil cube carriers for high volume low value shipments.
When Australia Post got control of Star Track and had bankers in charge they went from really good to not very good. They are recovering from Fahour I think.
In the US the postal service delivers 6 days a week.

Ahmed was unable to make many changes because it was effectively already an 3rd Party (i.e. Outsourced) organisation.

Many Auspost employees were transferred to work for Startrack. Their "new" employer was selective.

An Australia Post delivery man had a wee problem, he didn't notice the CCTV.

I looked up our 3kg airbag price for overnight deliveries and it is a tad under $10.

AP is a joke which is why the private options that now exist are worth trying. I first started using Sendle for the Velocity bonus but have found them to be quite good (especially with free collections) so use them for a lot of my postage/courier needs now.

We posted something to a client and Australia Post mark and returned it a few days later to us.

I worked out that they processed the Return to Sender address as the destination address.

Have had a bit of fun with AusPost mail redirection after moving recently. Got a partial refund out of them for the first little while where we had access to both mailboxes and could prove that they weren't redirecting everything.

Had a parcel that was sent to my old address and carded for pickup at the post office - the first card did not get redirected at all, the second card with the "please pick up in 5 days or we're returning it" finally made its way to me, so I eventually managed to get my parcel a mere two weeks after it was meant to have been delivered...

Second parcel which I thought was being sent to my parcel locker but instead was sent to my old residential address - the online tracking showed, supposedly, 3 separate attempts at delivery to my old and my new address on 3 separate days, and eventually on day 3 I got the card in my letterbox saying I could pick it up from the post office on day 5...

For all their flaws, AusPost is still far from the worst courier service I've used. It will be very difficult to go below our local Fastway and CouriersPlease franchisees. And Parcel Lockers are great when I'm able to use them...

Have to say majority of time I am quite happy with Aust Post. I have numerous parcels delivered even under my online name
However one glaring one was when we were travelling almost two months and AP didn't hold our mail or parcels. Huge fiasco and calls from Europe were needed
Major apologies and contacted afterwards. All charges refunded

I've had this happen, they tried to tell me the recipient must not have collected it, but if only posted it the day before. Straight back into the post box and it was correctly delivered the next day.

I now send parcels to niece, Wagga Wagga and Darwin, via DHL. Faster, better tracking and similar price.

Sent two parcels via Aussie post, one lost and one arrived smashed.
Inconsistent I suppose.
I’ve sent stuff To Wagga using AP’s Parcel Collect and it’s arrived overnight. No issues.

My issue with AP is parcel deliveries to me. The parcels don’t come. Instead Some subbie comes around with “you weren’t at home” cards. I got handed the card at the gate once by someone who came around in a Toyota Yaris.

The scam was that the AP parcel delivery driver paid some schmuck to hand out the cards and the courier dumps the parcel at the local AP pretending he tried to deliver but no one home.

They have to rely on Maccas and public toilets. Sometimes none are available at short notice
