The Lounge MEL/BNE - closures in Feb/mar during refurb

I was wondering about that as I booked a DJ flight this evening for next weekend without thinking about the lounge possibly being closed.

Anyone happen to know if they've started on BNE yet? I booked DJ on a whim for a flight on Sunday, forgetting I might not be able to get my customary ham, cheese, and tomato sandwhich!

Plenty of terminal work but no construction in the lounge yesterday 8AM and damn fine coffee.

I didn't notice it when I first got the email, but they sure do have an odd construction timetable - "The Brisbane Lounge refurbishment will commence between the end of February and the beginning of March"... Unless they have Dr Who doing the refurb I'm struggling to understand when that is!

Easy, it must be commencing at 12 midnight on 28 February. Midnight a time that belongs to neither and both days.

Hi all,

I used the MEL Lounge last week... Service was good but very cramped at 7am.. Limited seating and a few queues for the coffee and toast... They were only allowing members, not guests into the lounge because it was so full... Looking forward to the new lounge when it opens again...

Also used the SYD lounge last week and this is still very open. Much more space than MEL and the area being refurbished is at the rear of the lounge. They have closed the cinema areas, the old IT area and the quiet zone at the rear. If your used to sitting near the windows, near the bar or by tone buffet then you may not even notice the closed area.... Just a bit busier than usual...

Well, I write this on Sunday 27th at about 1pm, in the completely construction free BNE Lounge, so I guess they really are starting the refurb at midnight between Feb and March.

And it's rather more pleasant here than the BNE QP would be right now...
