The new Flybuys launches Monday (April 23rd)

It's a dud to me and to most people I know! It seems some of the "oldies" really like it, but most people want Qantas points and would have loved Velocity points with FlyBuys!

No Velocity deal = FAIL

It would seem that both Coles (FlyBuys) & Virgin (Velocity) do not want to REALLY engage the enemy, (Woolworths & Qantas) anytime soon...

NOt really a fail. Just does it suit your particular circumstance. I'm pretty sure it suits many people though, like most of the Coles customers that probably don't care too much for flights...

We forgo the 5% Coles staff discount my partner gets to do our weekly shopping at Woolworths, we also participate in the EDR scheme... Even though we lose the 5% discount, I honestly believe we are well ahead with the Woolworths offerings available thus far...

And yes, most of our shopping takes full advantage of the available weekly specials, hence the belief some have that Woolworths prices are higher is not an issue for us...

...like most of the Coles customers that probably don't care too much for flights...

As I said before we on AFF are a very small part of the Aussie market.The mums and dads who have no thoughts of JASAs and FASAs couldn't care less about getting bonus point offers-they want discounts.The Coles scheme seems to be doing that better to them.

They probably should have thought of a new name, but nevertheless I think that the program is designed for a large portion of their customers, not the hard core flyer!

Fair enough... I accept and white flag being raised...!

But we are discussing this on the AFF forum site so my comments are based on this fact, discussion of this outside of this site I am sure will replicate different results, however as an AFF, I clearly comment based on my needs & wants as a member of this wonderful community

ok, havent read through 11 pages,

but here is my tips on how to get the best value for money,

I understand that if you had a coles master card your points would be doubled but for those that dont have one nor intend to!

Use Visa/MC card (site doesnt accept amex) which gives you 1 QFF point per $1 spent

and buy the entertainment book which gives you 5% off with free postage,

so essentially, your food bill becomes 5% off and your petrol 7.5c per L off at $1.50
use the petrol vouchers to get 4c+ off
you get 1 point per $1 for every purchase on flybuys,

so you basically get double points for everything, previously it was $5 per 1-2 points which made it useless, hence I didnt do any shopping at coles,

the entermainmet book accepts amex with 5% off for woolworths vouchers but you don't get flybuys points only extra qFF points if you spend $30+ (which I rarely do)

so if any other people have any tips to maximise points, would be appreciated,

in the past since the ratio was so poor, I didnt even consider it a rewards program, but now I see it as my points accumulation as double

EDIT: Oh and if you have a staff discount (which I dont), that would be another 5-10% off!!!!!!
