Women are often their own worse enemy when it comes to making our home life more difficult than it has to be by doing more of the child/home duties than necessary.

Its like when people think the father is "looking after" or "babysitting the kids for mum today". Its called parenting.
Most seem to do an awful lot of vacuuming for no apparent reason.
Cheers,
Renato

Its all about societal expectation and norms. As these Scandinavian countries and others have shown, its not really true, fathers can parent just as well as mothers.
Yes, but.......then there is this, which is the next step.
And I'm not sure what to make of it.

Cheers,
Renato

Thanks for the link to the irrelevant article.
My wife was relating her observation and statistics printed in women's magazines.

Don't like the statistics that children being looked after by men suffer more injuries? Go argue with the magazines who published it and the statisticians who collated the data and analysed it.

Renato

Irrelevant? I beg to differ.

The fact you’ve suggested the source for your wife is Women’s magazines throws out any sort of credibility considering they aren’t exactly known for their accuracy of “reporting”

After 20yrs, I now have a house husband who I can say does 90% of the house work. I only make dinner and change the bed sheets.

Since he took over, our floors have never been so clean.

My wife talks about women allegedly having superior abilities at looking after children, you cite an article about nutty women abusing men.

Totally irrelevant.

I noticed the pram thing in Gothenburg too.
I would have thought an equal number might be expected
LOL gender equality ?

I knew a woman who sold her house to move to a smaller one, because she was no longer able to cope with vacuuming it once a day.

Most men would have difficulty spotting anything that required cleaning after just one day in every room of the house.

I think she's an extreme example, but unless family members make it a habit of trampling through dirt, then through the house, the frequency of vacuuming could be greatly reduced.

Irrelevant?

Where do you think these “nutty” women get their ill-informed ideas from?

Keep at it...

Yes, a complete irrelevance - unless you can cite women's magazines actively inciting women to act with hostility towards men changing their babies nappies in a public change room.

Good luck with that.

I was very fond of pushing prams and look forward to doing so for my grandchildren. What is curious in my mind is why there should be so many more men than women

PS:it did occur to me that dads on parental leave might be more likely to be going out for walks rather than carrying out the myriad domestic duties indoors while still retaining parenting kudos

Don't forget a lot of kids (like mine) will not sleep unless they're on the move. So getting them into the pram, or car, is a vital component of staying sane as a parent.

Vacuuming once a day? There's a difference between clean and obsessed. Vacuuming once a week is more than enough unless there's a yound child around.
