I've been meaning to start a thread like this for a while, ever since [post=1308856]these[/post] [post=1309234]comments[/post], and so now finally...

Events & Tastings

There are four good annual pinot noir tasting events that I know about (please post about others), with one of them being held in Sydney this Saturday - tomorrow:

Pinot Heaven @ Bellevue Hill Bottle Shop (Sydney)
Saturday 4th June @ 2pm
Free
~100 wines

Pinot Palooza (National)
August (Adelaide/Perth), October (Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane)
$60 General Admission / $50 Early Bird / $95 VIP
~150/250 wines

Templestowe Cellars Annual Pinot Noir Exhibition (Melbourne)
1st or 2nd Saturday of September
Free
~25-30 wines

Stonier International Pinot Noir Tasting (SIPNOT) (Melbourne/Sydney)
3rd or 4th Monday of October
$150
12 wines

also [post=1437815]Meat Fish Wine (Melbourne) currently has 80 pinots in 80 days for $80[/post]

Wines & Deals

2015 is shaping up to be a top vintage for Victorian pinot noir, with some good value wines rated 95 points by The Wine Front, including:

Hoddles Creek (94pts, $19.99 @ Summer Hill Wine Shop)
Punt Road ($24 @ Different Drop)
Allies Assemblage ($26.50 @ Bonds Corner Fine Wine)
Little Yarra ($40 @ Little Yarra)
Dirty Three Holgates Road (2014, $44.99 @ My Wine Guy)

One deal worth considering is 94pts YarraLoch Estate 2012 $19.99 @ WineStar

Similar to the [thread=53217]Vinomofo[/thread] thread, I hope that perhaps here will become the first place to share and visit for all things pinot noir :)

Excellent thread! Have already booked in for PP in Melbourne.
A really well run event and at the Showgrounds this year.

The Pinot palooza event is worth going to. It is very easy to overindulge as there are so many great wines to sample. The c.Otago ones were the standouts for me a few years ago when I went to the inaugural one in Melbourne. May go again this year...

Great thread idea - Mrs Rugby and I will be getting into the theme next week with a lunch at Pegasus Bay. We went last year and are going back for seconds.

The missus and I currently doing a little Pinot tour.

Has anyone who has done the Bottle shop concepts events (Pinot Palooza, Game of Rhones et al.) done the VIP tickets. $45 more than early bird/raven ticket. Did you find it worth the extra?
Early access is very appealing to me after dealing with the mob that was at Game of Rhones last week.

It's a new concept. They didn't have the early access last year. I'll let you know how the VIP session goes this year at the Sydney Game of Rhones.

Thanks for the reminder about Bream Creek - how was it and the others?

It was by far the cheapest of the bunch in that photo but surely punches above it's weight. I'd probably cellar it for couple more years.

I don't usually order very cheap Pinots but this one looks interesting. Wondering why this vintage in particular was so massively reduced.

Not 100% sure but they do have the 14 for sale as well so it may be just that reason?

I've had a few of their Pinots and they've always stacked up ok.
