The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Check-in with whatever seats were selected beforehand, then open the in-app boarding pass after completed and there is a view/change seats option, there. It's also accessible in the manage booking area. Depending on flight and operations, that option is possible right up until check-in closes, but for some flights it will be moved to airport control (not that often for mainline services).

Cheers,
Matt
I was caught out on an International flight and I am sure it was something like 24 hours before departure that it went to the airport so couldn't select a seat on check-in. I usually select my seat as soon as the flight is ticketed. For those without the ability to select seats early Qantas allow seat selection from 90 hours before departure.

Yes - some ports are known to be problematic in this regard. I've only really noticed it happening out of South East Asia and India, myself (other than for maybe regional / dash services in AU)

Found this on Qantas website: you can change seats up until 3 hours before departure only if you have not checked in

Nah - you can definitely change after check-in; have done it countless times before (actually... perhaps not after checkin at the airport; talking about online check-in through the app)

Since the EK404 flight was cancelled and our flight was APR 25 we have been moved to QF2 (SIN-SYD) and an inwards connections to MEL. My wife was originally booked in EK F and I was booked in J and have been rebooked in the original booking class on QF metal.

Does anyone know how I can upgrade from J to F on QF? I am only QFF Bronze?

You should be able to request using points via Manage My Booking in your Qantas account

Noting that for International booking upgrade requests are not processed immediately like they are for domestic.

International upgrade requests are processed in order of Qantas Frequent Flyer membership level, with CL/Platinum One members receiving the highest priority. Confirmations are sent within 7 days for CL/Platinum One members, within 3 days for Platinum members, and within 24 hours for Gold, Silver, and Bronze members.

With so few F seats, Id guess as a NB your chances are are extremely low, unless perhaps upgrading from a fully flex paid J seat as those will higher status will be processed first.

Yes - no option to upgrade from J on a rewards booking. I’d mentioned that on the other thread you posted to, but it was deleted
I thought so, do you know if QF is strict on if I can sit opposite my wife F/ Take a photo for her?

Not sure on that; best would be for her to ask the crew in the F cabin on the day. A visit might be ok; joining her for a meal or anything else is not likely

Thought so, would be similar to EK although have always managed to get a seat in F next to her
