The science of targetted marketing and data mining

I can confirm I have received offers on cards after spending less then $30. Some where very low spend high bonus offers and some where welcome back offers.

I do note, the welcome back offers have dropped from 500 to 250 points.

When I was establishing the spending pattern for one of my junior members cards, I used it for a few transactions under $30. Some of these transactions included fresh meat. After the initial welcome offers, this card received a points offer for $20 of fresh meat which I was able to take up easily. The sub $30 spends can be very useful as far as future offers go. I used this card last week for a sub $30 spend hoping to generate a welcome back offer or another type of offer. It's a bit disappointing that the welcome back offers have decreased in value. I was looking forward to getting these on the junior member accounts.

I only recently returned to AFF after a long absence mainly because I've stopped flying for work so was going though the soft landing year after year - WP to SG and finally to LTS where I'll stay. Anyhow, I came across the WOW Select trolley run and thought, cool, I can start earning CC points, use JASA's to get the last 900 SC's I need for LTG. After reading all about targeted offers, I wondered if you could work out how they worked, then you could get the targeted offers you were after. A little more searching AFF and came upon this thread.. the AFFers don't miss a trick!
Also from reading some of the flybuys offers, I noticed that the week I received the offer of 500 points for $130 spend, some people received the same offer for an $80 spend! Trying to change my spending habits. Looks like I'll have to change my spending habits to get some decent offers. Plus I've now registered for EDR and will start shopping more there. It certainly would be nice to get one of those 50 points per select product! I could see myself buying a lot of cat food!
