I made the mistake of booking a European ski trip in February, thinking it'd be cheaper than January - nope! Their school holidays are different than ours.

Oh well! Will still enjoy ... doing Zakopane in Poland, Levi in Finland, and Aletsch Arena in Switzerland

Can anyone recommend a good buy, swap, sell site/forum for ski gear?

The collection of gear Miss H has outgrown is now taking up too much space.

Sorry to say but Facebook marketplace seems to be the mainstay these days. I hate FB with a passion, but it's the only place I've had success selling ski gear (and have bought some stuff there too).

I'm a bit late to this thread, I've been exploring the forums after chatting to QF WP.

I am a part-time ski instructor with 21 years' experience at Thredbo, a member of the APSI and have an Austrian certification. I also have a small business running escorted small group ski tours in the northern winter. I have been focussed on Japan to date but am planning to also have two weeks at Sun Peaks in Canada in 2026.

If anyone has general questions about skiing technique I'm happy to help.

I certainly do know Roger and Reilly. The ski industry in Australia is a small place!

They taught our kids and especially MissQS.
She then tried to get into Thredbo Ski racing club but they said she was too young so we decamped off to Perisher and joined their winter sports club but didn't like the Alpine group. For some reason Miss QS loved Moguls mainly because the kids in the moguls group were nice and she thought Toppa was cool, and the rest is history.

TSRC seems to have younger skiers nowadays, either that or I'm getting older. I think the development squads and race clubs are great and getting them out young is good for World Cup and Olympic potential. One of the kids in my ski club ended up an Olympic silver medallist.

The only thing I don't like about race clubs is that some of the kids think they own the mountain and disregard the alpine responsibility code. It's no fun when you're taking an adult class down Walkabout, Ballroom or High Noon for the first time and some TSRC kid decides to scare the daylights out of them by cutting in front at high speed.

Yes apparently they already know when their kid is under 10 going by the bent ski poles and race suits.

I call the Interschools the InterOlympics.
One of the reasons we eschewed alpine racing was the over the top seriousness the parents were on Race day .

Bump skiing - one set of skis, no race suits. Parents all at the bottom of course having a good time drinking coffee and relaxing. Ski tuning occasionally.

Ski Racing - overnight ski tuning, multiple set of skis, tuning gear at top of hill, racesuits under normal ski gear which have to be taken off at the start, then patient skis down with skis clothes, often missing the race while they ski down etc etc.
