I currently hold edge and explorer. Applied for the essential card and received an sms to call about my application.
I made the call and was told bu the agent that the reason it was referred is that I have 4 cards on my account. He could see that 2 of them were inactive though and went ahead and approved the application. The other 2 cards had been cancelled for over 2 years.

Can confirm that the limit is indeed 4 cards now.

Sounds like I should add the Explorer to my line up to start scooping up 2ppd for normal spend that only earns 1ppd on the Charge/Edge combo.

I applied for the 3rd amex card but I was not approved due to generic reasons, amex don't love me anymore lol
Was told to wait out another 3 months and try again

Maybe you hit your credit limit. Drop down the limit on the existing cards by 3k-6k, then reapply in 3 months time for a 3k limit card. Its fun to roll with 4 amex + a charge card here.

Just noticed this thread, wow sure beats what I had to do (cancel card then apply, once approved re-instate cancel card).
So the limit is 4 total? 3 credits 1 charge? or 4 credits 1 charge?

Is there anything worth getting? Planning to drop the DJs card without SPG to transfer to
