I thought there was bound to be someone else in this situation.

Long story but I am looking at being at LAX for one day. Arrive in the morning and fly back to SYD that night. I am sure there are others who have done it for work etc.

My question is about immigration - does anyone at US customs question you? Given the Border Security show and what the Aus people do, I am worried that they might interogate me further, thinking I am a smuggler or something.

Anyone had any experience with this?

So you're doing SYD-LAX-SYD in a weekend?

Sounds like fun...

Chances are you will have a very close eye cast over you as it's unusual, however if you explain that your simply on a status run they will probably let you through without too much hassle (or rubber glove action)...

Are you taking any sort of baggage?

I have done it once - never been questioned much. More often I have an overnight or two.

If queried re "Trip Purpose" I indicate leisure - I like flying. If pressed I am ready to tell them "Mileage Run" for airline status.

Walked across to Canada and back at Niagra Falls - duration of trip 2 hrs - funny looks but ok. Other short stays in usa have not been issue in past but you most likely will get some questions.

I arrived there on a Thursday and flew out on the Sunday in June with no problems. They just asked the reason for my visit and just told them i was picking up some equipment unavailable in Australia and everything was fine.I guess just be honest if they ask.

My last 2 trips have been for visits of 2 days or less and nothing was asked other than purpose of trip.

In fact the last trip was a transit through the US to get to Canada, 2 nights in Toronto and then another transit through the US to get to Europe.

My Passport has a few one day and same days in and out of countries and when i get asked all I say it transiting or day visits.

Never been more than 2 questions.

USA is not one of the countries in my passport though
