The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Aww so close! I hope you are both given platinum!

I have the SCs, but I'm 4 sectors short. Renewal date is tomorrow. My QA flights late last year didn't count towards sectors (sadly). Was meant to do a status run today, but I had to cancel (family and work stuff)! I have work flights booked later in the week, but they probably won't count. I don't think VA will renew my status because I'm a nobody :)

They will let this go through usually, renewells they can 'help'. Achieving an upgrade they won't.... at least that's what they told me today when i called.

I'd call custom service to be sure though!
Agree this is my experience in the past - but Flybuys should see me through!

My daughter and I did a status run/family visit over the weekend.
BNE-MEL-LST in J went ok, although we arrived into LST nearly 2 hours late. Luckily, the plane we were on BNE-MEL was also doing MEL-LST with the same crew.
While waiting in LST airport for the LST-MEL-BNE in J return flight, we were informed that our LST-MEL flight had "technical issues".
We were put onto the LST-BNE direct flight in economy as the delayed LST-MEL would have missed the connection in MEL.
A bit peeved as I was looking forward to the J experience again.
After suffering two VA flight cancellations back in November where I never ended up being able to reach my destination, I'm yet to decide whether it is unfortunate coincidences or the new norm for air travel.
I will have search the forums for "original routing credit"...

Similar happened to me last week, different route (downgraded to Y on direct flight when booked a multi-leg J itinerary).

I called Velocity and they credited me with the original status credits I should have received for the multi-stop J flight while I was on the phone.

Thanks @Mattg Did you also get a $$ refund for the J-Y?

Mileage and sector credits?

What would usually be the cheapest routings ex-SYD to gain 160 SC, please? I've got plenty of time before the review date but that would push me over to plat so might as well do it.

Work usually would have taken care of this easily but the big boss is on a drive to save on travel so not much flying coming until later this year.

Tassie always presents some reasonable options ex-SYD. These will give you 110 SCs for about $3.60-$4.10 per SC. Another leg in J would give you the 160 SCs.

Examples
SYD-MEL-LST in J for $403 (this is with the discount code) May 8th or June 5th.
SYD-MEL-HBA in J for about $450 on May 9th

Lucky got all my sectors and SC's for Platinum again and then some!!! in February they were giving out double SC's. I got some surprise ones as I was already booked Darwin Perth return but got them anyway!

Another one for members. I applied for the Velocity CC (run by Citigroup) which offered 250SC's for joining up until March 31. Started March 2. Seemed simple to start. Well I've had an incredible run around and frustration with them. The worst part being contacted by staff in far off countries whose first language is obviously not English. And even supervisors are the same. They won't forward me to someone in Australia on the phone.
They seem to have not got an email with my income proof attached, or don't think the proof is enough, and havn't contacted my accountant. I have more than enough income. Finally I sent the paperwork to Sydney address (to avoid Asia) in hard copy which hasn't arrived yet, and they have refused my application.
Sick of it anyway. But a lot of time spent with rubbish.

Do you get a cash refund when you are downgraded and pay for business and to what level of economy. You could have maybe booked an economy far cheaper given your date of booking?

I'd love to let you know the answer to this, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Virgin about my refund request...

(It's already been several weeks since I proactively contacted them to ask about compensation - as none was offered - which is honestly pathetic!)
