The view from my "office"

View attachment 375334View attachment 375335View attachment 375336View of my room in Hungary, Székesfehérvár Mecure, guess I got an upgrade, I’ll get lost going to the loo.

However, tragically at the rally today, a car left the road killing 4 and injuring another 7.

I had been near that spot looking for good angles, but moved down the road to a 90 right corner.

There was a chicane made of big hay bales to slow the cars down, you could hear the cars coming, there was noise then a bang, at first I thought the car had hit one of the bales, sadly not, it went off before the chicane.

A lot of people ran up the hill to see what had happened, as I couldn’t understand what was being said, I stayed put, and was told that officials were yelling out for any doctors or first aid people.

So sad for everyone involved, it will be interesting to see if they were in an officially marked spectator spot.

A teenage girl has died, so 5 now, her mother died on Sunday, younger brother survived. Initial investigation showed they were in a clearly defined ‘no go’ area. Police expect to start a ‘criminal’ prosecution, not sure who will be charged. Surely not the driver, the stage marshals are all volunteers. I saw them asking people to move, (not at that spot, admittedly). A ‘safely’ car comes through before the the triple 0, double 0 and 0 cars. Then the competitors. The safety car has the power to stop the rally. There is nothing to stop people moving back. The barrier is a piece of tape, easily moved.
Again, so sad for all involved.
This is a video from Tibor Erdi jr, it’s a Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4, he passes the spot at about 2 min 30 in, even he has a moment. Note at the end of the stage, he is doing close to 200 kph. My photo as well at the 90 right after the accident spot.

Video may not play unless you are in fb. I’ll have to try and work it out later as it seems to want to go to my fb page.

My Friday evening office, The Bluewater Festival following the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

Rainbow over the main stage.

IMG_3105.jpeg

Busy along the foreshore with crowds starting to find their place on the beach ahead of the fireworks.

Those with an eagle eye will see JQ570 on final.

Elsewhere on my evening walk, some great colours.

Towards Moreton Island:

North to the Glasshouse Mountains looked menacing, but there was nothing in it.

Shorncliffe, Queensland.

IMG_7724.jpegIMG_7722.jpegIMG_7718.jpegIMG_7726.jpegIMG_7725.jpegMy KL office for a few hours, the Turkish 777 I arrived on, even though my flight to Sydney is on Malaysian, it is ticketed as a TK flight.
I went to the Prime Lounge, which is ok, but not brilliant, they said to go to the Golden Lounge as it’s a physical Malaysian flight.
Showed my boarding pass and my Q WP card and they let me into the 1st section, now having a gentle 2017 Barolo. Feel a bit guilty as it is Ramadan.
The 777 is an old configuration, 2 3 2 in J. Not a fan, but less than half full, so I managed to sit in middle of an empty row of 3.
Food is excellent, if anything, too much, I had to think of the wastage. Crew very attentive, without being overbearing. All in all, a good experience.
I suspect the technical issue we had was too much of a fluid, or maybe too little, it did seem to be pumping.

Sounds like you lucked out, my recent 4 flights on TK I thought the food was rubbish.

My first ever A220 flight! Some might remember (from the WCMO thread) how I was unable to take the A220’s inaugural flights out of CBR. #StillRecovering.

Anyways, I’m on the X4B to MEL.

Seat 9C. Shadow in 9A. Loving the extra leg room pitch space in the rows 4-9. In a short person, so this feels like extra-extra legroom lol 😂

Is it just me or the movable headrest keeps moving a lot during the flight? I raised it a bit when I sit but it keeps going down?

Some more views en route MEL. I think I might have seen something that resembles a “controlled burn” around 20 mins before landing into MEL.

My photos don’t do justice. But initially it looked like the fog was blanketing the mountains because of winter, but as the flight proceeded I think I saw a trail of smoke coming off the mountains which then was blanketing the surroundings.
