The view from my "office"

Had dodgy internet access for a few days. I could access many sites, but it choked on AFF!

The view from our Saint Claude office in the Jura Mountains. Finally a decent car park and a railway station to top it off.

Now in our Annecy office in the foothills of the French Alps. Nice and sunny here.

On road-trips I always set the car’s navigation to avoid tolls and major highways. It then takes us on enjoyable back roads. It outdid itself this afternoon on the way to our office in the rural village of Blacé on the “Route du Vin Beaujolais”. From Villefranche, a major town, we were led along endless twisting and turning single lane roads with a few hair raising encounters with oncoming traffic to arrive at our destination to see a sign to a two lane road “Villefranche 7 km”!

Even though it is raining the view from our Blacé office balcony is idyllic.

Between Montforte and Pontferrada. Love seeing the storks, and it is very lucky to see several nests together.

We visited Naturoparc, previously known as the “Centre for the Reintroduction of Storks and Otters in Alsace” last week. They said up to 90% of young storks used to die on their first migration south, due to loss of habitat, electrocution, hunting, etc. The storks in the Centre are kept in captivity for three years, so they do not develop the migration instinct before they are let loose.

Thanks for the information, I’ll put that in my memory bank, we do want to visit Alsace, it’s so sad to think of people hunting them. :(

Remind me to take you for a spin to a church near us, it has an interesting 12th century mural painted on the back wall (Chaldon "Doom Painting" or "Purgatorial ladder" , probably the oldest in the UK. — Seeing the past) and also had (until it was stolen in 1970) the oldest church bell in Surrey. The painting is thought to be the oldest such thing in the UK.
