The view from my "office"

All set to depart the Auckland office, and while living it up in the QF F lounge 😉noticed the inbound aircraft was nowhere to be seen on FR24. ☹️

When the inevitable happened, I spent almost an hour in a queue waiting for hotel and taxi vouchers before relocating to this office to wait it out.

QF international J lounge. Spotter the Piper in the fridge and asked for a glass. Was asked if I'm chairman's lounge. I said no. She said it's just for them. I played dumb and said oh. Others I know had just asked and been given. She gave me a glass but said that's it. That's ok. Only needed one.

Also, sad to see the Bodhi space re-purposed now. Crowding issues with the Paris flight. It was called just as I was entering the lounge.

I might have to “play dumb” later today. 😉

The view of the window on QF71 of Shark Bay is certainly better than the internal view. Literally just had a baby throw its toy out of the cot knocking my drink all over me.

Slumming it tonight. Hoover House B&B Gwalia.

The room

The house - designed by future US President Herbert Hoover when he was the mine manager here in 1898.

And turning around from looking at the house - the reason for the existence of everything here. Slightly enlarged since Hoover's days.

After my unexpected extra night in AKL I headed downstairs for a healthy, nutritious breakfast.

Then back to the airport where the inbound office actually turned up and Auckland’s weathered was… the usual.

Auckland, New Zealand.

On the way home the CSM stopped by a few pax to chat and deliver a small gift.

I couldn’t work out if this was status related, or for those of us on the previous day’s cancelled service.

Either way I have a new key ring.

The weather at home was better than AKL.

Don't feel special. They hand them out to plebs who shouldn't be getting chamnpagne in the lounge even ;)

Actually, they gave me this, in Y, and some pyjamas (yes pyjamas are a thing now on QF71/72) as an apology for the drink spill. Wasn't really needed as cough happens. Tell you what though. Really grateful I was travelling in Kathmandu flight pants. Water repellent FTW!
