The view from my "office"

A great night of jazz in our usual Bangkok office last night-

The first group played some of the late King's compositions. The All Stars had performed for the late King several times and the trumpet player was the third of his family to play for the King.
The fellow in the middle of the last picture playing sax is Dr.Pat and was a member of the King's Au Saw Friday band joining it at the age of 14.
The highlight was when some of the All Stars had a jam session with the SGS regular jazz pianist Randy Cannon and his group.Even mrsdrron stayed up until after midnight.

I must admit I was a bit perplexed by your previous post of Copenhagen which showed a couple of sailing boats, a bridge and a row of wind generators. (Is that the correct name as they don't generate wind?) And the LMM when I first saw her was much smaller than I had imagined as I had only seen pics like yours with nothing else to provide a size reference.

Amaroo - how was the food ??

Excellent! The restaurant was full which is impressive given they only do a tasting menu .... pretty decent numbers from non-staying guests. We ended up being served 8 courses .... the extra plates matched the menu very nicely.

I didn't take any photos ... other than breakfast.

I was somewhat like you Roger, when I saw the LMM, circa 1991, I was quite disappointed. Remember it was a cold day with a howling wind in June. We had been at the Kastellet before and decided to brave the unseasonable weather. Got there, we all kind of went....meh!! And retreated to our hotel for wine and cheese. Being backpackers, it was a nasty flagon of german riesling and cheap edam and harvati if I recall correctly.

Peak gold mine at Cobar. Glad I'm not working under all that

So am I. I'm surprised the decline (tunnel) is off the very bottom of the open cut. Many years ago there was a fatality in Australia when there was a big rainfall and a mud rush in such a circumstance, and the whole lot flowed down the decline killing a couple of people in there. I thought there was a reg these days forbidding declines at the very bottom of open cuts.
