The view from my "office"

and for Drron, my transport today ... a PMV (although not in Lae) and yes, the only white face in sight!

But for Gerehu to city for K2, how can one argue, and it was a brand new Coaster! Not to mention the really great conversation. :D

Edit ... I should also mention, in a hire car, it takes me about 1/2 hour to drive that distance and the PMV took about an hour. K2 = about AU$0.85.

Shock! What happened to the one on the left??? A bit precocious I suggest!

Quite.

Got a bit of time on your hands today @RooFlyer?

Sigh ... is there no-one who understands my art ...

I could have gone the dead pheasant thing, but I thought AFF was more sophisticated (not to mention appreciative of seasonal produce )

As my office is closed for Easter, I was running short of things to do from the hotel room, so decided that the company fitness policy should kick into gear and I took myself for a walk down to the Koki Fish Market in POM. An enjoyable couple of hours was had, but I did get sun burnt in the process!

There was plenty of activity around the market.

I think the banana boats ferry clients from the surrounding villages.

The market itself is quite interesting. I'm not much of a fisherman, but they certainly looked OK to me!

Fish for sale.jpg

You buy your fish and then you can have some guys clean and fillet them for you for K1-K2 (AU$0.42 - AU$0.85). That service was started by a few entrepreneurs who saw a viable income. It has proven so successful, that there is now a team of these micro-business owners and the market has built a cleaning station just for them. The eager customers wait patiently whilst their purchases are prepared for them.

On the way back, I passed a couple of guys doing a bit of spear fishing around the rocks. I'm not sure what he told me he caught, either an eel or a snake! I'm not so sure I'd like to eat either!

Cecil Brunner roses from my home office. Sunshine Coast.
Grown from a cutting originally taken 45 years ago from my grandmothers house in Sydney. This plant is a cutting, of a cutting, of a cutting, of a cutting, of a cutting, of a cutting !!
