The view from my "office"

From Longyearbyen we took an SAS flight to Tromsø in North Norway, where we stayed for two nights. Then we drove to Reine in Lofoten with an overnight stop in Sørvågen. Some views from our offices:

Tromsø, a nice 2nd floor studio apartment in the Enter City Hotel, with a super view!

Looks very similar to the view I had when I stayed there earlier this year.

Having a relaxing long weekend at Moffat Beach with good friends (student free Monday so here with our son whilst our daughter competes in Cheerleading competition this weekend back in Brissy). The wives choose a different place to stay each year and well, we scored this time. I can see us coming back.

View north of our balcony yesterday when we arrived

Great view to the beach and 5 foot swells rolling off the point this morning so the surfers were out in force

Along with the ships. There were 8 off the coast this morning but this one is by far the most interesting

#1 son currently in SYD F lounge trying to do an SR to WLG and back. These are not your regular F lounge views:

Skyline disappears.....

Then it hit the airport...

Lots of white flashing lights indicating "no movement" at airport.

Flights to CHC, WLG, HNL delayed. Son told to "have another whisky..... nothing's going anywhere".

#1 son here. The Japanese whisky isn't bad either. I did love sitting back sipping it whilst watching the mayhem outside. Things are moving again, so hopefully not too more delayed :D
Mars Iwai, traditional blend? Think that’s the one I’ve had there in the past. One of the better whiskies in the very mediocre selection in SYD.

There is more to the Netherlands than Amsterdam. That is why we spent the past week in the northerly province of Friesland (Fryslân in the Frisian language).

Today we visited Leeuwarden (Ljouwert), the provincial capital.

In the early 16th century the citizens of Leeuwarden demanded that a new church tower be built, higher than that of nearby Groningen. Building started in 1529, but had to be stopped in 1533 at 39 m high because the top was 2 m out from the vertical. It still stands like that!

After a look around we spent most of the afternoon at the ceramics museum. Below are some photos of unusual ceramic artworks.
