The view from my "office"

Visited Giethoorn, small canal/no cars village in the north of Netherlands of 2700 residents and over a million visitors per year. Lovely spot but too many crazies that have never driven a boat (or kayak) before.

There were three kayaks in the water and none had a clue. Locals were giving instructions from their houses and boats to get them out of the way as blocking the canal.

Considering the distance from Amsterdam, I'm going to say no unless you get there and hire boat/in water about 9-10am so you're before the bus crowd or as late as possible. It's really crowded and lots of nupties that never driven a boat before so there are traffic jams in the water. It must be horrible during summer
