The view from my "office"

My office(s) for the last two weeks.

On board the Russian I/B (icebreaker) Kapitan Khlebnikov and lots of Zodiac excursions and landings.

The region where the offices were.

Some views. Crunching through the ice is fun. The vessel can go through full pack ice up to 2m thick.

Polar bear tally: 52 :), whales and walrus: hundreds (pics on my camera to be reported later in my TR.)

Definitely not cocooned. Two Zodiac excursions or landings most days. Out on deck watching polar bears, whales, walrus up close and personal a lot of the time while on board. Virtually 24h daylight.

Expedition leaders rated it one of their best trips. I went independently, but was lucky to have on board a photographic group that included famed people and their support staff that had worked for BBC Wildlife.

Everyone on board received a copy of their A/V production. Naturally, it was very professional. A real bonus!:)

Coming into ANC today, turning to line up and, what seems strange, the chubby DreamLifter was in town.

I had a long layover before continuing to LAX, so I stored my bags and Ubered downtown for some aimless wandering - which later morphed into fixed and purposeful when I stumbled across the Bubbly Mermaid.:):p
