The view from my "office"

In the ADL QP one of the staff was wheeling around a trolley asking if we wanted a coughtail. It was Brooklyn Bel Air Sour Ale with diet coke and mint. I decided to try it which was probably a mistake. Later I asked her if she was sure it was diet coke and she said it might have been ginger ale because she just pressed the post mix and didn’t have her glasses on. All I could taste was the beer and it wasn’t pleasant.

Are you off to Antartica?

Are you off to Antartica?

Yep at Rydges in Sydney tonight - off to Santiago tomorrow for one night and then start the cruise on the 12th. Debating if the internet is worth $400 for 3 weeks so I can post photos. There are about 15 meeting via Cruise Critic for drinks at the same hotel in Santiago and a few other single travellers so I'm going to see if someone wants to share internet access.

Fabulous and what a great CC turnout. Who did you go with? And the mandatory Rydges photo? Love that overnight in Rydges and anticipation night.

Small boat being rescued today by Police Rescue off sand bank. Eventually a tow line was secured and taken to safety.

There is a treacherous (if you don’t know Aussie beaches) sand bank a few hundred metres out that gets shallow on low tide. People can walk out here. But then they not see high tide coming in and if they are non swimmers they get stranded on a disappearing bank as the water level between them and beach is much more than 2 metres.

Camels, desert sand, brilliant intense sunlight..... somewhere in the Middle East?

No..... Princes Pier today for the annual "Blessing of the Waters", the high point of the Greek Epiphany Festival.
In the background is the "Queen Elizabeth".

Beautiful summer's day, not a cloud nor wisp of smoke in the air.

The midges (non-biting Chironomids) have been unusually abundant in the area this summer. It looks like some of the locals have been squealing to the council.

They’ll go away...

Lovely summer night Henley Beach jetty. At 7.30 it was packed.

At the end of the jetty were many trying to catch crabs and fish. Earlier in the day there had been a Greek Orthodox festival and blessing of the Sea as mentioned earlier by Coriander in Melbourne. There was also the main dive in Glenelg. The shark plane had been busy checking all was clear just prior.
Tonight - just jumping off the jetty.
