The view from my "office"

Those apricots look good but did they taste good.Mostly commercially grown apricots these days taste bland.

But where was the beer?Usually at least 2 craft breweries at the Harvest market.

The apricots were OK, but not like hme grown ones I remember as a kid!

Didn't notice any beer stalls, but it was a bit of a rushed trip through 2/3 of the market, as I was on a parking meter. But there were:

Now a hotel:

Today's lunch office. Lunch was crumbed scallops and chips at Fish Frenzy, at the Hobart docks, and they went in a frenzy, so no pics of the food!

But a nice scene. Cray boats; thats Macq1 hotel on the other side.

And the Lady Nelson - a 1980s replica of the late 1700s vessel that participated in the 1803 settlement of the Derwent River in 1803. She does cruises on the Derwent, and beyond.

Meanwhile, the local punters are getting their Christmas crays fresh off the cray boats (but at twice the price that I get them up the east coast

I am so tempted to buy crayfish at these crazy prices but I don't even like them 😂

Pity the male of my best friend couple; he's allergic to crayfish & the like. She and I go for them whenever they are affordable; when I'm hosting I try to get his (equally expensive) favourite, abalone, but that's so rare these days, he usually has to 'make do' with scallops!

Interesting that he is allergic to crayfish and I presume prawns, marron and so on, but can eat scallops and abalone.
The boss can't eat shellfish, so we always thought that included all of the above. She was talking to someone that is in a similar situation to your friend and thought that maybe she could try to eat oysters, mussels, scallops and the like.
At the moment she doesn't want to push her luck, 2020 being as it is!

An update, she said the person that mentioned this to her said that she is allergic to a protein found in crustaceans.

Yep, all crustaceans are bad for my friend. When I host them and serve crayfish, he's definitely out of the kitchen, and besides me washing hands, benchtops etc thoroughly, we take COVID-like precautions for me not to touch anything he might, so he gets his own piece of lemon, he pours the wine, etc ...

Slightly OT but I have just developed this fish allergy and on Friday had to take a variety of fish to the specialist for them to try out - had a lovely time at the Adelaide Central market saying I want one oyster, one scallop, one whitebait. I could only get a very small whole tommy ruff so cut it up so I could just take a bit to the doctors. Even doing that was enough to get the hands all itchy and red and funny.

My bolding above - remind me not to come to your house for dinner, sounds like I'll be thrust into the waiter position :D

Jokes aside, it must make things a little more interesting and keep you on your toes!
