The view from my "office"

We are spending the next 4 nights in Albany at a B & B - using up some AsiaMiles points that were expiring.

King George Sound with a bit of sea mist. There are a few ships sitting in 'quarantine while waiting to load cargo. The 'inner harbour, Princess Royal Harbour, is to the right of the picture through Atatürk Channel.

Huonville, Tas.

Nothing special about the spot or place (actually taken from behind a cafe and art space). Just reminded me of the farm we used to own on the NW Coast a few years ago.
Spent every xmas holidays in Huonville as a lad. My relatives owned a large orchard there for over 50 years. Right on the river. Happy days.

Still around Albany.

"Whaleworld" at the old Whaling Station in Frenchman Bay. I don't think that the real whales had the same expression on their faces when the whale chaser was so close. (All credit to Malcolm Fraser for making the hard decisions that led to the end of whaling in Australian waters.) I went to the Whaling Station on Customs work in 1974 but luckily it was during the 'off season' - it still reeked of whale oil however.

Looking down from 40 metres above the water. Big brave 100kg ++ me took one step onto this bit and could go no further. My wife went to the edge and took lots of photos.

Anyone for a swim? This little pontoon bridge leads to a small sandy island in the inlet. I assume the sharks came in at high tide.
