Be there tomorrow. :) Salzburg completely snow-less.
When we were there and in southern Germany last year with lots of snow everyone kept telling us that it was abnormally early. This year seems to support those claims. It is a pity you have missed out on snow so far. It did make the whole Christmas market experience even more fun.

As I remember it, while cold in November/December, snow in UK/Europe used to be a mid-January phenomenon. Climate change may have changed that.

Mixed feelings about it. Yes, would have been pretty-er but I was happy not to have the fall risk all the time. I do like to do a lot of walking about and I think if it was slushy/icy that would have been curbed. And of course the trains have been running good. :)

can you see snow on the Alps from your window though

No, but in any event the clouds have been low and grey the whole time here. On the train in from Munich, there were some subby breaks and saw some spectacular Alps scenery then.

This was the view from my hotel in April this year - I had such a fight because my room was so hot and I couldn't turn the temperature down. The window was only able to open about an inch but in the end the man came up with the magic key and opened it all the way but told me it was Verboten. I didn't care!!IMG_2993.JPG

Same problem with a hot room all over the place on this trip. Fortunately I had a door leading to a balcony with two windows that I opened fully and it did cool the room down really well.. Unfortunately couldn’t leave it that way all night so went from cool to hot during the night and it’s been a bit of a bugger‘s muddle all the time
