I love the departure from Victoria station where you head uphill to the bridge and then emerge with the old Power Station on the left. Looks like they have ruined that view.

Views of Banksias from this mornings ride. For the locals, this is the bike path along Roe highway near Jandakot Airport. This bush reserve backs onto Melville Glades Golf Course.

Enjoying Pier One. We normally stay at Sheraton Grand Hyde Park, but my wife says at the moment, she won't go back there as it was a QH (??).
The staff here have been excellent.

I have trouble capturing/doing justis to the autumn colours in photos - I put up with mowing around this bloody tree for 51 weeks of the year - just for the beauty it has for 1 week....

[Flashback]

A circular 7 mile (we ended up doing about 8 miles with going off the route a bit) walk starting and finishing in Otford, Kent. It weaves on and off the North Downs Way throughout.



There was a lot of uphill, with not so much downhill. Good views out over Otford though after the first uphill slog.


The walk is well known for its Bluebells (at the right time of year), which this was - hooray. These photos don't really do it justice, the bed of purple was just stunning everywhere you looked.



Some interesting buildings & houses around, lots of wooden upper floors when felt a bit Nordic (not that this one is).


One of the fields we walked through is actually a light aircraft air strip, quite a few aircraft flying overhead and even saw a Spitfire.


Lunch......? Their beef can be bought from the farm door or online. Castle Farm - Lavender Farm Kent - Castle Farm Shop


Finally some downhill! Hard on the knees though


Shoreham Memorial Cross in the distance.


The clear waters of the River Darent, which meant we were nearly at the end.

Otford was a lovely little village, quite old houses around with one even sitting directly across the river.

Circular chimneys, haven't seen that before!


An Oast house, although I didn't smell any kilning hops


Nice place to live if you can afford it.


Pickmoss, a Grade II listed medieval half-timbered yeoman's house.



Buildings (and a vintage car) along the High St.



The village pond, where the duckhouse is Britain's smallest listed building, used to be main source of water for local people until the early twentieth century.


Otford Palace, which (the more well known) Hampton Court essentially modelled itself on. All that remains now is ruins though.
