I remember a range of 286 and 386 chip based PCs back in the 1980s,

They were cutting edge! Most of us had 80xx based PCs! I was the envy of my Uni year with a 20MB HDD in my PC (that had both a CGA and Hercules graphics card)….

That’s what I used at school *after* they had the first Exidy Sorcerer - which I recall carting home - replete with cassette recorder!

C60 or C90 Cassettes? We introduced new accounting machines in the 1980s that moved from the old visible record cards to C90 cassettes - major innovation.

My software fitted entirely within a few minutes of a C60. 4K Ram does not need much tape

later I upgraded to a Microbee with the Z80 CPU running at a blazing 2Mhz

Yes! Some of the US Nuclear missiles in silos apparently still use them!
