The "Where to from Citibank?" thread

Coles "platinum" MasterCard pays fly buys points which can now be exchanged for Etihad points or cash back in the form of $10 discount at checkout for 2000 points - works out to 1% of spend which is ok for a MasterCard. Last used it for ATO a couple of years ago before I found AFF and it paid points for that then.

WW not flavour of the month but the Everyday Money Platinum comes with $0 fee for first year, $100 giftcard with first spend and a 0% balance transfer, 10% off online orders, plus some Platinum insurance, travel, Entertainment Book-type etc benefits
Only earns 0.5c WW Dollars (I&S money) per $ except at WW group where it earns 1-1.5c
Would be difficult to justify the ongoing $49 fee for this level of return but the first year benefits are essentially money-for-nothing

Thanks for the table.

Looks like the best cards for me for minimal to no annual fees might be to keep using Westpac Black MC (I get it fee free due to home loan package) for non AMEX purchases for SQ/VA transfers.
I currently have an AMEX Plat EDGE as well.
I currently also hold a Citi signature fee free for life. Should I hang onto this card to get priority passes, I get them too at Westpac but more doesn't hurt. Or there is no point keeping the Citi at this stage?

What else does the citi signature offer me that the Westpac Black doesn't?

I don't think I will get the ANZ due to the high annual fee.

Thanks,
K.

Keep it for the Priority Pass alone. You get two complimentary visits through your Westpac Black, and another two complimentary through a separate PP account from the Citi Signature.

I've put the Citi Signature on ice after their devaluation behaviour but am keeping it just for those two visits.

Ok thanks. Can I give the passes to my wife to use it? And a 5 year old child?

There used to be a couple of direct earn cards that are no longer available, but for non-direct earn to KrisFlyer there's....

0.25ppd:
HSBC Classic (appears to be no longer available, but who'd want it anyway?)

0.333 ppd:
ANZ Business One Visa

0.5 ppd:
ANZ Rewards
ANZ Rewards - Platinum
Bank SA / St George Amplify
Bank SA / St George Amplify - Platinum
Westpac Altitude
Westpac Altitude - Platinum

0.625 ppd:
HSBC Premier (again, with its tough eligibility criteria)
Westpac Altitude - Black (NOT 0.5ppd - sorry, my mistake)

0.667 ppd:
ANZ Rewards - Black

0.75 ppd:
Bank SA / St George Amplify - Signature (again, the 10% "Birthday Bonus" would make it 0.825 ppd)

Thanks for posting, didn't know there were so few MC/Visa cards that earn above 0.5 ppd KF (ie the "enhanced but became unenhanced" CB rate).
We really do/did? have it good with 1 ppd currently on the CB Signature

No, it doesn't work like that. You have to present your Priority Pass membership card, your boarding pass, and some ID. You can guest someone in for US $27, which will be charged to your Citibank card.

I used both of my freebies during the previous membership year. On the first one, I was travelling alone. On the second, Mrs 2905 was with me, but PP had a promo on where you could guest someone in to a particular lounge at LHR at no charge. Just as well; it wouldn't have been worth paying for, IMO.

There was a loophole where additional Citibank cardholders could sign up for their own PP membership, but that seems to have been closed. (The T&C's always did state that it was only for the primary cardholder, so we can't complain.)

Ok thanks. So no point for me to have to many PP's. As I normally only travel with wife and child.

I guess Citi prestige after the enhancement still gets $1 for 1 SQ mile. Still very good for a VISA:)

But the unlimited is only for me to use ? Or can I invite someone?

Also Citi prestige with enhancement is not effective earn rate of the citi signature previously. But $700 annual fee is hard to swallow....

unlimited for you and a guest.

With enhancement it should be 2 points per $ spent, conversion rate of 50% so point for point. ANZ Black and Virgin Highflyer are better but that will probably change.

Annual fee is often available at 1/2 price.

Now Citibank is all but confirmed, its looking a bit dire for SQ earn from March.

Yes. St George will becomes main KF card when signature drops down in march.
0.75 points + 10% birthday bonus
