Bit of a rookie frequent flyer here so I apologise if this is an obvious mistake of mine.

My wife and I just flew to Christchurch. My wife's Velocity account is setup to pool to mine. I am a Silver Velocity member while my wife is only a Red.

Return flight from Adelaide>Christchurch, booked through Virgin. The flight here was via Air New Zealand and went via Auckland. Return is via Virgin and will be through Melbourne.

According to the status credits page, one way, it's 1900 miles Adelaide>Christchurch. It's 2044 miles Adelaide>Auckland.

My account shows:

My wife - "Base: 1,022 Points"
Me "Adelaide-Auckland" - "Base: 1,022 Points - Bonus: 1,022 Points"

I thought that layovers weren't counted? Will they be adding the Auckland-Christchurch leg afterwards? Also, are bonus points not pooled?

Thanks in advance.:)

Layovers are counted on an international itinerary. Your AUK-CHC flight will credit separately.

Bonus points are pooled but your wife is not eligible for them as she is Red.

Ahh! Excellent then, thanks 777. I figured it was likely my lack of knowledge!

Are you sure? I think the bonus points should transfer to the "poolee" irrespective of their status.

They transfer if they exist. But a RED flyer gets no bonus points and the points are measured according to what the person who is on the ticket receives not the person they are pooling to.

Yes you are right 777. I realised I had misread the OP and I tried to delete my post, but too late. Apologies.

So we have still only been credited for Adelaide>Auckland, and not Auckland>Christchurch. These two flights were on AirNZ.

We have since been credited for Christchurch>Adelaide. We did have a layover in Melbourne but I'm guessing this isn't counted?

There are booking classes on NZ domestic which do not earn any points or SC.
Did you book via DJ or NZ?
