I was disappointed but not surprised to get the latest mail from Qantas about more restrictions to FF conditions. An "Economist" magazine item from a couple of years ago spelled out the enormous number of FF points held by customers around the world and predicted tighter and tighter conditions being placed on their use.
Here's what they said:
"At the end of April 2002, the worldwide stock of unredeemed miles was probably close to 8.5 trillion.. worth almost $500 billion....Airlines are issuing more miles than they can ever supply in free seats."
The moral? Use your points now. They are only going to be worth less in future.
