Third Test, Australia v India, Gabba

30000 at an average of $75 is well over $2m, and I think that’s conservative, at least the caterers probably did well, IIRC Susie ONeill’s kids both work in the hospitality @ the Gabba
If they be half smart it would have been insured
However members get no refund …

The highest adult tic price was $105 or more

Day 2. Penfolds are the wine sponsor today - good to have them back after 29-25+ years away. Normally today is Henschke.

Nice selection of 707, Grange and my personal favourite St Henri. Disappointing that they only have 2017 and 2019 vintages.

Will be a tough day as sun sitting at my own table with my guest

So the Day 2 menu:

My guest Dean. I went to school with him and played in the A’s together. Brilliant cricketer - opening batsman and Fast/medium bowler. Captained Australian U19 team to India. His father played for Qld, one of his sons made the U19 Test side last year but then got shin splints.

Okay, time for opening and decanting a 2017 St Henri for lunch

Entree (the salmon was the best part of the dish):

Main course. Generous portion of pork. Lovely:

Given that we spend a lot in wines, our table got an unset table for the 2nd sitting, so we drank:

After 6 bottles I think we’ve had enough. Great to get around the table and catch up with what’s happening in each others lives. Life is really good. Bought a couple of charcuterie boards for the table to share - which went down a treat. Crackers, cheese, protein and wine. Yes life is good.

Let's face it @QF WP, it's all about the wine.
Take day 1 for example. Poor bubbas, they might get wet. When I ride my motorbike I have to suck it up and keep going. I can't check into a hotel or hide under a tree for 6 hours.
Then there's day 2. Some poor bloke runs 250 metres just to throw a ball and sometimes nothing happens. Other times a couple of blokes run from a few sticks in the ground to another bunch of sticks hammered into the ground. I mean, what's the point?
Be honest, if all you were offered was a Coolabah cask, would you still go??
I doubt it.
