Thoughts on Qantas Club/Questions

I was in the PER Dom QC last Tuesday.
There was a guy in the downstairs club who was wearing; Thongs, board shorts and singlet.*
The dress code certainly needs to be upped again l think! It's getting a little bit to relaxed IMO.
*
I've questioned that too, I've always made sure to take pride on my appearance when I've been in QF Club.*

There has been times, CHC in particular where I entered in a rugby jersey, shorts and DVT socks/thongs, but changed into something a bit more "appropriate" whilst being in the lounge as I had a shower.

As it states the pamphlet, "smart casual" what does deem under that category? I'm thinking jeans & t-shirt as baseline.

I have seen some people bend the rules slightly, and the people who bring their
teenage children in who wear next to nothing, that's taking it too far.*

If I'm about to board a 15 hour flight in Y, there is no way I would be in 'smart casual'. Planes are nothing more than a glorified bus these days and thinking it's some kind if exclusive club is ridiculous. It's not 1930 anymore!

If I'm paying for a premium revenue ticket, hitting 1200+ status credits each year and in the top 1% of frequent flyers then I deserve to dress how I want.

I've flown many times in J, wearing little more than tshirt and thongs.

I'm not fussed by what people wear in the QP, it's their behaviour that gets me. Feral bogans talking loudly to each other or on mobiles annoys me as does anything else that I am forced to deal or interact with. Just a modicum of consideration is all I ask for :)

It's the teenage bogan children who bend it
they either look like "ladies of the night" or "boyz
from da 'hood"

How many people have you seen in QP with the typical
bogan attire of a flannelette shirt, stubbies shorts, singlet and
ugg boots?

As a parent of a rather .. active .. toddler, I wish wish wish QPs would get kids rooms. Best part about the LAX T4 and DFW AA lounges on our recent trip (and BA lounges when she was Miss 18months in 2008) was the kids room. Toys, computers with kids games, TVs, and some chairs/lounges for the parents to sit in.
And it helps keeps the kids away from the other travellers who are enjoying being away from their own kids/don't have kids and don't want to be bothered by others' kids.

I'd much rather sit in that room with Miss 3.5 than sit in a regular QP and deal with her wanting to get her own drinks, try to find ways to look out the windows (e.g. in BNE Intl & we couldn't get a window seat), etc. She was pretty good, most people who commented thought she was cute. I took from simongr's experience last year, and dressed her up as a fairy.

The Qantas Club at Sydney T2 has a kids room, doesn't it? I'm sure I saw it yesterday.

Oooh, does it? It's been about a year since I was in the T2 lounge with Little Miss, and I didn't spot it then. We're based in BNE, and my most recent experiences with the domestic and international lounges here is there's no kids area. Not that the international lounge really has enough room to carve off a kids area, I suppose.

Yep, there is (or was 12 months ago) a kids room at Syd T2. Great idea, but seing the lack of space in BNE lounge of a weekday morning, the last thing I want them to do is take more away for the kids. Maybe a kids room on weekends that they can convert for Monday morning.

Saw the kids room at T2 on Monday. Small plastic tables and chairs old decrepit looking duplo blocks and books and a small wall mounted LCD. The offerings at LHR BA T5 are much better. The QP one does of course have a much needed door. Glad I was travelling without little Shreks.

Yes not quite the 1930's anymore but one would hope that the people visiting Qantas Lounges and flying (in any cabin) are a little bit better dressed and behaved than the riff-raff one can find regularly using Brisbane public transport.
