I find that very intriguing, would you mind giving details of these places and the cluster of pleasures they have, as a city destination, that makes London inferior.

Actually you've answered your own question, if you really take the trouble to have a think about it. City destination. You are limiting my responses to cities when it's entirely possible I might prefer non-city destinations. My original opinion, however misguided, was there are so many more interesting places, not cities. That said, my original response was too flippant. Of course London is an amazing city and many others here have shared their knowledge well - the OP will have picked up some wonderful tips and be in for a great stay. In fact I have too.

That's a shame Amaroo - I have Greece and Turkey penciled in for April 2016. Would have been great if we were there later and could pick your brains :-)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - lots more reading for me to do.

Keep an eye on the TR board around April ... there are quite a few AFF'ers attending the 100th anniversary and many will be filing TR's - including moi.

We'll also be enjoying three nights in Athens before commencing our Turkish odyssey.

I am sure romney will be delighted to know that London is not such a bad place after-all.
