OT but the tag I use sends at the point of the email being opened. I am yet to find anyone who does not respond automatically.

I guess it is not totally fool proof though.

Ditto here, I always say no ; most mail programs have it automatically set to ask if you'd like to send a receipt or not. It's possible with the DJ mail going into some sort of CRM system that if not using an auto-responder they've turned off the ability to send out these receipts.

Depends on the email client and user. In outlook sending a read receipt usually prompt or confirmation the first time it happens with the option to always do this action. I always don't do the action so that I'm prompted everytime and I will pick and choose who I notify

The one straitman uses seems to be some form of using an image, and when the image loads it sends back information saying that the e-mail has been loaded. Obviously if you have your client set to not load pictures, then it won't work.

I am doing the same. I'd add - more MEL-LAX frequencies... (I guess that'd require more aircraft)

Good approach by QF009 and pauly7, in my opinion

I really don't understand the massive rush for people here!? Why go for the status match now when DJ are still a very very long way from coming even close to giving QF a run for their money?

Lets remember they haven't even revealed their plans for a premium class yet! Let alone seen any sort of timetable for implementation - which is going to take years. The announcement of a few A330's won't even cover all their transcon flights... I'm not sure how they are going to work that....

I don't have a choice, as a contractor to 2 employers, 1 is a DJ account and the other is a QF account, thankfully I have enough flying to get to Gold in both. As I've said before DJ are difficult, their systems seem clunky and manual in pretty much everything - people used to the seamless QF experience will be frustrated. Guaranteed.

My advice - save your match for when DJ actually have more widebodies FLYING, a premium class FLYING, issues with Velocity sorted out, their international arm sorted out with some continuity and service issues tidied up.

My thoughts anyway, hope this helps for some people.

In other words, save moving your business away from QF until the changes we are not happy with are well and truly entrenched!

Put simply, people are requesting a match now so that the effect of loss of business is immediate. I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is on the basis that the man that gave us many of the good things with QFF is now running DJ and I want him to be empowered to do the same there. Maybe its the old Australian "support the underdog" in play here, but I prefer to support an up and coming partner rather than change when its obvious who the better partner is. All progress is measured in steps, if those steps are not seen as being supported why continue to the end game?

I have just made my first flight booking since the 'enhancements' and they are with DJ (even without any status match).

Aside from the topic of DJ vs QF, I'm starting a new role where the contracts are already signed up with DJ as the preferred airline, so I don't have a choice.

Therefore, I sent a request yesterday afternoon for DJ to match my QF gold status. As per post #18 above, I emailed, and I also DM'd Velocity via AFF, and within 4 hours received a message to say my request had been processed!

I logged into my account online, and confirmed that I was indeed Gold.

So if you've sent a request and it's taking a while, DM your details to the Velocity member in post 18 and it will be sorted very quickly.

Thanks DJ - much appreciated! (To be honest, I couldn't see QF doing the same thing the other way around...)

I tried to do this last night, but not sure if it worked, as when I checked my sent items it showed nothing....

Best thing to do guys is include an email address in the message you send to them (sorry I should have said that before). I received an email from Velocity - they don't have enough posts to direct message yet!

I did inclue an email address in my PM, but I"m not sure it sent... Will wait until VelocityRewards visits the forum again, and hopefully notices my post.

I've just sent an email asking for a status match for my QF Plat.

Not happy with the current and continued erosion of QF Plat benefits.

Tried to PM Velocity Rewards, but need another 3 posts before I can do that ...

Yeah it's interesting. I googled it, and have found that most airlines in the US do it as well. There was one guy's blog that said that over there you just flash your card from another airline at a check in desk, and they have the forms there ready to status match you! He had AA Platinum I think, and 3 other airlines (from memory Delta, Continental and Northwest) all matched his status!

Will be interesting to see if QF follow suit - although I doubt it. The Q Pub is overcrowded enough already...
