Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

I am soon to embark on my first ever flight on Tiger, return MEL-OOL with the family mid September. We have booked carry-on baggage only tickets, which allows 7kg per person. However, I can't find anywhere what the dimension limitations are for the bags. Is any (reasonable) size ok, as long as it is under 7 kg? Also, are you allowed to pool the allowance for 2 pax, and so take a 14kg bag?

Just 'normal' carry on baggage that you would take on JQ.

As for pooling luggage no, it becomes an OHS issue.

Thanks, but I rarely fly JQ either, so don't really know what they allow. I usually fly QF, and as I am WP probably get away with more than what is really allowed. I have heard that TT is very tight on their rules, and so anything slightly over size will cost extra and have to be stowed.

I would say that if you keep within 105 cm bags it would be ok. They do have a luggage sizer at their checkin line in SYD and I can try to get a photo for you tomorrow. But it is about the same size as the qantas version.

Also the baggage limit is 2x bags upto 10 kg with no bag greater than 7 kg.

I suggest making sure that both bags are well under 7 kg and also possibly more like 4 kgs each on average, as there has been some reports of dodgy weights measurements when flying Tiger.

Yes TT is very tight with their rules in terms of weight and sizes. I STRONGLY suggest you do OLCI 7 days before your flight, so that you can avoid the hideous queue at MEL T4, and be able to select seats at front of the plane so you can get out faster at arrival. Previously I have been able to select row 2 without problems as I was one of the firsts for OLCIing on my TT flights.

BTW, you will be shocked with the state of MEL T4 (ie TT shed) compare with what you get used to from QF. You will need to learn to lower your expectations :mrgreen:

But other than that, if TT gets you there on time and safe, then consider it a success!

I will need to look up where T4 is, I've never actually been there. I'm planning to use one of the off-site carparks that offer shuttle services, I hope they stop at T4.

But, as you say, as long as we get there without any really long delays, it will be fine . I don't think I will try this if I have a deadline for arrival though.

The service that munitalP and I used 2 weeks ago didn't stop at T4 ; there was a sign that let people know that, and that they should allow 90 minutes I think it was if needing to go there. I'm not sure which place this was though because it was eaaaarly!

well there's a few carparks with shuttles available, so hopefully at least one will stop at T4. I'll use that to determine which to use.

If your shuttle drops you off at the DJ terminal it is only about 200 M to the TT terminal.

I have just done a sample check of a few, and it appears none will drop off at T4. Apparently they are not allowed to do so, as there is only a single road in, which would get too clogged.

Oh well, a 200m walk isn't so bad I suppose, particularly as we're hand luggage only (I'm still waiting to see how wife and two teenange daughters manage that for 6 days away :shock.

Thanks Medhead, it looks the same as what QF use, so at least I have an idea of the size.

Regarding the wife/daughters and carry-on, I expect exactly the same. It will end up costing more than we would have paid on JQ, where we would at least have had lounge access and earned SCs and points!
