Tigerair to charge passengers extra for hand luggage

Tigerair has reduced the amount of carry-on luggage passengers may take on-board from 10kg to 7kg, from 17 April 2015. They will however allow passengers to "pre-purchase" up to 5kg of extra weight, at a cost of $18 or $23 on longer flights. If however passengers are caught over the limit at the airport, they will be charged double.

In other words, they seem to be more or less copying Jetstar.

I thought Tiger's carry on allowance was always 7kg - pretty sure it was the few times I flown.

Also, didn't realise QF's allowance is 2 x 7kg - significant point of difference!

Qantas is only 2x7kg if the bags have linear dimensions of 105cm or less. Not 115cm, which most people seem to drag on to aircraft.
